Well, we can give second weapon of same type to commander, yes. It doubles the DPS in theory. My suggestion is - Enchantment for weapon slot. At level3 commander weapon module : no damage, no CC, gives first weapon -50% to reload time. So this means that still you have same DPS, but you have more control of shooting.
Applicable only with bullet/missile weapons.
So Beam laser, Light Particle Cannon, Slowbeam, Disruptor beam, Heatray, Lighting gun are unaffected.

* (SILLY) There would be no point in giving it +100% dmg because of High Caliber Barrel, but, who knows, who knows... Sillyness introduced - +330% dmg from modules. Means - Assault cannon with 1.2k damage on hit. ***

Killer, point is not a 100% bonus to damage, but 50% reduction of reload of weapon. Still, DPS is the same.

Sniper rifle
(sniper can have max of 2700 dmg on one rifle, but 12s reload => 225 dps per rifle. Full damage assault cannon gives you 297dps per cannon. [Calculated w/o -50% reload / x2 dmg output])
In term of DPS on normal weapons (no flame, no heatray) Assault cannon have best DPS in game. But is useless aganist raiders. Esp. when swapped to arty.
Well, maybe can count Shotgun in. But except for largest units or standing at range of almost zero, you would never hit all the pellets.

And yes, i screwed up a bit maths. Forgot to count in base damage that is 100%. So it would be 430% by weapon+modules, so assault cannon would get roughly 1550dmg per hit. And would have AoE.

At silly stuff : Second module should multiply output damage by x2, not to give +100% dmg. That would be a shot in the knee.

I really really want the -50% reload time its really annoying when both go to wreck a flea.

Sometimes I prefer dgun + normal to dual, just for that.
But sometimes you want huge alpha - shields start reloading after your first shot.

I would prefer a state to make second gun eithe
* a dgun (even if it is a sniper for example)
* auto-fire, but wait for primary to fire + x seconds
* fire together

Blackhole gun. Like the placeholder, but a million times more powerful and a larger blast radius. Can crush raiders and other small units, but not that great vs bigger stuff.

Well since there is thread like this my idea is...

Commander hook at 3 lvl instead giving secondary weapon you could equip commander with hook which could help you escape nasty situations or just move faster. Reload time shouldnt be something ZOOOOOMG ~4 seconds and hook is HLT range maybe a bit more. Range and reload time could vary greetly, needs experimentation.

Basically you select where you want to go with "dgun" key and hook shots and pulls you to that place, pull and hook shot animations should be really fast.
