If you want better balance, IonStorm, I suggest you to not play PW, but regular games. They do not use clan-balance.
Anyway, there's not godde + 3 EI clan members (cause that'd be four EI players), there's just two EI members.

The problem in this battle was the low reliability of many players. Springie should probably try to not only balance elo, but also to balance reliability. That would decrease the elo-balance making games less fair, but would instead make for less surprise inside a team. Anyway.

In future - that is once ZK has 50+ players participating/waiting for a battle - rooms might be split up into different reliability ones, so that problem'd be solved. Right now the only way to solve this problem is manual balance, which only works if you know a players elo better than Springie.

DarkSTar - EXACTLY. It happens so freakin often it's pathetic. It needs to be the opposite. Godde and other high ranking players should be on the team with less + have the noobs, yet right now it's the complete opposites, all the complete noobs are clumped together vs them while the "good" players are w/ godde and such and outnumber the team with all the noobs. Licho something needs to be done about the balance.

Calculation is weighted average.

well this system according to licho seems fine, its only a problem when theres very small games with mostly players that have no elo. This makes the weighted averages more skewed toward these elo-less players.

However, in a typical game setting the system Licho described should work just fine, and in larger games this tends to always be the case.

Complete newbs really shouldn't be playing pw, that is more of a problem than uneven team sizes.

If you have good players on the smaller team, being on the smaller team is actually often a bit of an advantage.

ELO is zero sum. If you start adding or removing points from system like that it will lead to major inflation/deflation or screw value of ELO point.

It would be zero sum if it was used in a closed system. Here new players come and leave. Some new player may lose a few games, his elo become 1300 and then leave forever - that way his 200 elo will stay in the system. But this probably can't be avoided.

I will read more about how exactly elo works then I may come with some balancing suggestions.
