I made an input display widget and can run OBS so I made some tutorial videos. The last tutorial video thread had lots of people with ideas and nobody doing anything (that I recall). I so just made the videos in the way I thought they should be made.

Here are the videos so far. They are mostly quite basic and concern how to control units. There are mistakes in them but they are probably good enough to be useful and definitely good enough for feedback.

Higher quality options will usually be available after some time. YT has some processing to do. They are unlocked one after the other.

Have you thought about changing the mouse button input display via F11 to be higher and thinner to look more like actual mouse buttons?


Feedback:
In the Combat Commands video at 2:00 you say "you can combine these two commands" and mention multiple times how that's not useful. However, this combination can be extremely helpful when scouting, examples: 1) Create a line formation of Fleas from top map edge to bottom, hold Ctrl+Alt and draw a line from where your Fleas are towards the map edge behind your opponents starting area. That way you can scout for holes in defenses and your Fleas wont all die to a single AoE shot. 2) Get a few Glaives in line formation, hold Ctrl+Alt and have your Glaives systematically scour your base for cloaked enemy Fleas, Scythes, etc.

Regarding SetTarget, it's about time resurrection gets rebound so T can be used as a hotkey.

Eco Tutorial 4:20 -- Building Surround is Ctrl+Shift (does not need Alt). You also didn't mention that it works on queued buildings which can be useful sometimes (eg. add solars to mex before it is started).

Eco 12:30 -- Area Reclaim can be made to work on your units by holding Ctrl.

Area Repair: new pure-repair behaviour on Ctrl. [Spoiler]

Constructor fight: rezzers will not automatically rez on Fight (rezzers are probably not important enough to be covered but not doing their default job is counter-intuitive). They can be made to by holding Alt but that only works on point-click fight (because line fight overrides that into its own default bahaviour of everyone-follow-same-line).

Does anyone know if there is a way to force constructors to go for specifified reclaim area, if wrecks are not in LoS (w/o using move + queued reclaim command)?

Great videos.
Best would be to make mandatory tutorial missions that checks that new players successfully use these commands and how overdrive works before playing multi-player games.

Terraform video is up. I tried to be a bit quicker with this one and I think it turned out better. It ended up being 12 minutes long because I aimed to cover the entire UI and there is a lot in terraform. I forgot a few things though and am not sure whether the sea related path ability numbers I gave were all correct.

This only took about 45 minutes to make, so I'm getting better. I may remake the earlier ones or move onto state commands and attempt non-command tutorials.

I watched first two ones.
Thought I would know everything but had some things things I did not know or had forgotten. The space+repair=no assist I will definately use in future. It is an engine thing even Oo and could have used that so often before..

It is quite good and avoid many mistakes of similiar videos.

Idea but bit OT:

GUI is not really so fun or interessting topic to watch videos about.
With that in mind the videos are imo quite long, even if some things are 'advanced.'
Videos are good but ultimately it is an unedited one-take videos, that limits how good it can get.
Imo worth to look at video editing.

Remember that it's only Space by default, in ZK that's Ctrl. If other games use Insert widget by default it might not be available at all because it overrides the default (in ZK it wasn't until this stable).
