The main problem with having a kickstarter with the current developers would be that afaict most have inelastic time. That is, the number of hours between dayjob and other obligations can't be increased with money easily.
So the first thing in order to have a KS (or patreon, no big difference in this regard) campaign is to find someone who:
- is talented and committed enough to deliver what you want
- is flexible enough to put in more work for more money
The good news here is that if you have the motivation and the time and you can learn well enough, that someone could be
you. The bad news is that most people - quite probably including
you - can't just learn those things, especially with a constrained time budget.
But the rewards are great, right?
