Hey,
after playing multiple games and having a great rating for some time I am still getting no rank.
For some reasons the rating charts are not updating directly.
I don't understand it...

Your variance is still too high to get a rating colour and ladder rank. You just need to play more games still.

If you check your own profile page and click on "show rating statistics" near the bottom, it will take you to a chart and some figures next to "current rating" that will look like xxxx.xxx +_ yyy.yyyy. The yyy number is your variance and if that's above a certain threshold, you don't get a rating colour.

At least I think that's more or less how it works, though others can tell you more about the maths going into it if you really want to know.

I couldn't tell you about the ladder except it's based off https://www.remi-coulom.fr/WHR/ and I haven't read the paper still. The ladder is not built for fun, it's built for function. The colors are for fun, and I don't think the colors have anything to do with what when is.

My variation was too high, because of my skills and playstyle, balance between useless and somewhat efficient.

Even after 25 games I didn't get ranked.

Haha I've played almost 100 Games and the System is not sure whether I am good or not. xD
Sad...

it has to be casual or matchmaking and there cant be any bots or chickens also your actual rating is not max likelihood it is 75% confidence, so some games don't affect elo, there is also a no elo setting that might if been on doubtfully.

The number of games required for a ranking and the thresholds for increasing rank are really quite ridiculous.

I was gold in day 1 and didn't have too many games so I don't think that is neccesarily true

I think CHrankAdminDeinFreund redid the ranking system between then and now.

So is there a minimum number of games?
Because right now I am above the "Next rank above" in my Ladder rating (which is 75% confidence).

Also there is alway this huge cap (in the "75% confidence" curve) between previous games and current games in the stats,
which gets raised after some more games... I dont unterstand why its falling.

There is no minimum number of games. Unfortunately the rating system is fairly opaque and in many ways frustrates human intuition. There is no straightforward interpretation of it that maps to many of the common concepts and features that we like to see in rating systems.

The rating system works by fitting a function that represents you skill over time to the entire history of games played on the server. This function should not be confused with the human concept of a chart shows you your change in rank over time. Instead the function is fit all at once, in the present, to your whole play history. Your rating in "the past" can change based on the future performance of you and everyone you played with. The function is optimised under some assumptions, one of them is (probably, although this may also be too-human of a concept) that players don't change skill particularly quickly. It also assigns a certainty (or variance, or some other fuzzy human word) to its estimate at each point in the past based on some sort of maths.

There will not be a simple reason for you having too much uncertainty to be ranked. Playing more games would help. Playing smaller games would help. Playing games with people who have more certain rankings would help. I have no idea why your "75% confidence" number dropped by 200 points. Remember that the chart shown on your ratings page is not a history of your rating and the uncertainty. It is a function, all computed in the present, that is fit to your past. Notice how you appear to start out above 1500 ELO. This makes no sense under a standard ELO implementation.

I found it was too silly for you to have played 60 non-AI games and not be rated. I pushed one of the only levers available to me and bumped MinimumDynamicMaxLadderEloStdev from 220 to 300.

I will test playing soon, to see if changes grant me a ranking.

One more comment, as far as I understand, if you play "well" one game and the next game very "bad", then the systems says "don't know how good you are".

I know, because it happens to me for example if I try to play a factory that I am not used to, after a period I did not play much. Then the system thinks I should win, but as I am "experimenting", I confuse the system... This is less of a problem if you play hundreds of games, and play for years, but it is a problem if you are new.

I think that the rating could be shown even in case of uncertainty, although you should be aware that it will not be very precise...

Thanks, that also put me back on the ladder.

Current rating: 2879.143 ± 276.0793 (ω2 = 0.008449466)

From unranked to #6 on the casual list in one line of code.
