The current ship radar icons are very difficult to recognize. Therefore, I have created a new set of ship radar icons:
What do you guys think - better or worse? :D

The new icons look very much like the corresponding ships and are clear and clean. Serpent's new icon is the only one that doesn't remind me of the unit, but it's still better than having two instances of the same icon just scaled differently (like it is currently with snake and serpent).
Overall success. :)

I tried to make a 'real' serpent icon, but failed :) (the sub is very... flat)
So instead I made a sniper sub icon (which the serpent is, according to the description)

Nice. You should emphasize the rear mounted depthcharger on Crusader a little bit though.

Outlines seem unnecessarily thick, but overall improvement. Go ahead and put them in.

small update:
- added surfboard
- increased depthcharge size of Crusader slightly
The outline size matches that of other icons (just the old ship icons had hardly any outline). However, large icons (warlord, reef, leviathan) look rather thick due to the scale. Might have to reduce the outline size for these icons.

Meep, can the icon look less gritty and more clean & abstract?
I think ingame it need less detail (for example why 2 hump for AA).
Also the old icon appear to have size comparison & look proportionate. But new icon has big guns like its part of the ship main structure.

I think icon need only show basic information. For example look at SupCom icon... they look nothing like the actual unit but it can explain hundred different unit using same template.

SupCom icon also requires that you look closely within the silhouette, while ZK icons make all the necessary information part of the silhouette, thus it is much easier to differentiate at a glance.
Only upside to SupCom's presentation is that it looks more like a modern military operations map, and thus more professional, but that's likely not optimized for control at the scale of seconds.

Good work, I like new icons! Now you can see where is serpent and where to fire with your own serpent. :)

You used sniper icon (cross) for snake. May be a good idea to do the same for AA. Make a generic ship icon and slap an AA arrow on top. Then there would be no special cases for AA units icons.

Interestingly, i just noticed that shape of amph icons seems to correlate with ability of corresponding unit to act underwater - scallop and duck got trapezoid, while the rest are semicircle.
Djinn should have the trapezoid too, because it can operate underwater.
