I join the Lobster pot(big teams) like I do on saturdays and sundays. There is a game in progress so I use !notify and alt tab to read memes on reddit. 15 minutes later, I hear the notify ping and the game suddenly goes fullscreen, loading a new game where I am a spectator.
I thought the point of !notify is to let me know when the game ends so I can join the next game.

Nightwatch should've pmed you when the battle ended. Did you get the pm? The ring you hear is probably the start vote. If you tab into the game quickly it shouldn't spec you.
The idea behind the autospec was that the lobby would now make use of system wide afk detection, as that's been in the wrapper for some time. See
https://github.com/ZeroK-RTS/Chobby/issues/620
If that doesn't happen autospec could be undone, although that wouldn't stop people from speccing you.

Sounds like you should disable autospec or implement that afk detection system, and do so fairly quickly.

I think that notifications can get delayed if Zero-K is minimized.
