Hi all
I think it is an good idea that the commander became more slots for modules and weapons. What do you mean to this update for commanders?

ZK is an RTS and therefore cannot put too much focus on commanders. An option to put even more modules on them would encourage com morphing even more. This could lead to some setups becoming more efficient than units (which would be against the design goals), while the majority of builds would still be vastly suboptimal (which makes the module stacking pointless). Comms are to stay owled.

On that note, the level 4 and 5 base morph costs might be a tad too low. The power of modules scales more than just linear as people the module number increases.

Nonlinearity of stackable modules imo exists mainly due to range, because outranging something is a boolean value and not a linear one, and autoregen, as with it, health also behaves in a boolean way against some of the main counters (survives N bombers? survives a skuttle? survives tacnuke?) because if you don't get instagibbed you autoregen all damage.

Agree with @skasi. Feels like there is a valley around morph 2-3 and then you get into trollcomms that can clean up.

That feels backwards, and would be frustrating for players who lack the XP for full l4-5 trollcomms.

newbies don't know about morph.
newbies recognize they don't know how to use morph right.
newbies don't know about unlocks.
newbies don't know about making new commanders.

Your concern is a non-issue an anti-issue.

They vaguely know about those things because they see it happen. If you beat them with a level 5 comm they are going to ask how to do it and then feel that something unfair is going on.

In my experience humans hardly ever recognize that they don't know enough about something.

Skasi please recall that many things in ZeroK are unique, or at least uniquely implemented.

The example you gave is still extremely obtuse from the perspective of a new player.

People will avoid learning new things when possible, with the universal exception of trivia.

Commander upgrades beyond a LPB at level 1 are pretty trivial.

...Unless you play on Geyser Plains.

More relevant to the actual point, overmorphing one's com is a very, very common mistake made by new players, and they don't recognise that they don't know how to use it right (which is to say, generally, not at all). As a corollary, they therefore know about unlocks and making new commanders.
