it's a large team game, you're the highest ranked player. When teammates go afk, you get their units.

there should be a visible option to disable/enable this during the game.

Sometimes you're focused on something and cannot or don't want to have to manage extra units on the other side of the map. The timing is often very inconvenient.

if the highest rank player has the auto-get-afk disabled, check the next highest, and so on.

just pause and manually give?

not to minimize your trouble but, I believe that edge case would be common enough that general rule would be insufficient. Just my 2 cent

For those who constantly and repeatedly drop during big team game I'm highly inclined to reclaim ALL shit I get from them - including their commanders, just to prevent this fucking annoying seizure-worthy blinking and beeping
No seriously. I do NOT WANT to get any afker shit in big team games :\
There should be a popup asking "U want this crap? Yes/No/Never" and if nobody takes or everyone pressed "never" - AI takes over

its pretty annoying i agree,i cant remember how many times i get random shit all across the map and they die because i was unaware of theyr existence. Most of the times i take the commanders and give the units away to other ppl so i dont have to fight everywhere.
Sometimes having extra commanders can be helpfull to give them away to ppl that lost theyr original ones.
But this makes highest elo a chore.Every now and then u get units at the worst times and your locked into trying to outmicro 5 players :)) which never ends well...

As someone who generally observes more games than they play, I see more high ranked players quit, resign, or lose when they get given a ton of stuff due to AFK/Resign than compared to when they had to carry the whole team who were present but performing poorly.

As a fallible authentic human and certainly not some other type of entity pretending to be human on the internet, I cannot provide accurate statistics or even tell you how large my sample size is.

You are not required to outmicro 5 players. Usually (rarely as i rarely play clusterfuck-sized teamgames) when this happens to me i just redirect the assets to some big centralised solution to the problem of pesky enemies.

In other words, receiving stuff from allies makes my nuke complete faster.

i usually give units to another good player, esp if far side of map,,

and reclaim that half built zenith :)

Unless the future afker builds shit stuff (and it happens often) that will suck all your metal.

You are assuming that upon receiving their energy and production capacity i will continue to use it for their previous projects.

This is a very weird assumption.

Just having my important projects on high priority will already mean that only the resources that i would otherwise excess will go to those projects.

And that's before i actually cancel or pause everything i find unnecessary, shutdown unnecessary shields and jammers, etc. There is simply no way you can fail to benefit economically from receiving all this stuff unless you ignore it.

I mean, in big team, you have constantly guys being afk for few secs. You won't be able to start any big projects.

Ye... need to instantly self-d all the shit I get - this is how sick am I from this annoying un-optable 'feature'

you still can ctrl-d all their stuff.

I don't mind handling their units for a few moments, but the 2 seconds of stuttering I get every time it happens really gets on the nerves.

Ctrl+D might be considered griefing, it also gives less metal than directly reclaiming their units. So I prefer to reclaim.

bump

i can't fool around with the commander on afternoon clusterfucks under these conditions :/

I guess I gonna make auto-self-d widget for all afking horseshit I get and see how soon it will get me a banana ...

If this is a chore when you're blue... currently a brown dwarf, I never want this to happen to me, yet it happens all too often. And when someone's got a poor connection, it's worse. If I decide to send their units where I need them, they may never arrive because they got returned to the original owner for just long enough for him to cancel my orders and drop out again. I want the "I don't want anyone's stuff" setting maybe even in the lobby, though the proper place is probably in the game UI for quick switching.

I think it's within your authority to reclaim units you get due to afk. I do that if the player doesn't seem to be coming back. Unfortunately that doesn't fix the lag though.
