Uh oh... time for another RUrankParzival project.

Anyways, this ones completion will probably end up happening, just not anytime within the next year. Giving you a heads up. However, I promise to start no new projects until this one is fully done. I will personally ask an admin to ban me if I try to start another one. I also hereby prohibit anything off topic on this thread. This is proper develop thread, not a meme thread.

ReLobby

ReLobby is a lobby that will be easy to use, functional, and looks decent. It will be fairly simplistic, and will have most of the current components of the current ZKL (which I hope to replace). It will also implement matchmaking with other Relobby users by means of a integrated system that does not use ELO due to its inaccuracy. If elo matchmaking becomes more accurate I will consider using ELO instead of an integrated ranking.

The current design plan for ReLobby is as follows:

As you can see everything is going to be fairly open. Nothing in this lobby should be cramped (something I've noticed springlobby does). New players should have a screen that pops up when they first open the lobby asking them if they want to do a tutorial. This is a lobby for new players, not super pro ones. However, ReLobby should still have all the features of a advanced lobby with the functionality and usability of a simple one.

Coding will be in LUA, with python added for matchmaking.

If anyone would like to speed some things along and help, let me know. Repo will be on GitHub.

Googlefrog is help developing a in-game lobby(https://github.com/Spring-Chobby/), so the Zero-K devs probably have a different plan, perhaps you should try to communicate with them first?

MY EYES

I'm perfectly aware of chobby, I just want a lobby that specifically is made for ZK.

I like Parivals design better because it has nice stylish material design. It should be used for steam where there is many players.
Drone's design is also good but he has buttons like "game 1" and "game 2" and I hope that means battle-rooms and not different mods, because spring is an engine and having multiple games in one lobby is too confusing for players. All other mods beside zK are just too broken and would only drive players away.

Drone's design needs colors with more contrast so that people can differentiate the different elements in the UI

Are you going to use an MVC framework such as WinAPI for better performance?

A suggestion:
Many players have problems getting into game. That can be solved by making the start-button really big.

To find the best colors for lobby we must first understand the eyes of the target audience: http://creation.com/lobster-eyes-brilliant-geometric-design

How are you planning to balance games with matchmaking?

Proper matchmaking is probally going to need a new server+protocol because since 1,5 years it has not been possible on this one. There are also too many different lobbies and remaining compatible with all of them is not feasible and slows down steam release too much.

Agreed. Also, traditional lobbies have way too many buttons. This confuses the regular lobster player.
Taking these points into account I have run an extensive research about how the ideal lobby would have to be, and the result is this:

ESrankElTorero, I'm sorry but your design is terribly inappropriate for red-green colour blind (the most frequent kind).
Please fix it or I won't be able to support you.

I'll get that done for the steam release.

good design but replace the "play" button with "spec" because more people prefer relaxing spectating instead of aggressive tryhard playing. Especially when they are tired and almost asleep.
And remove the exit-button, just confusing, and why you need to ever play anything else anyway.

Good improvements.
Some minor points:
-It would be better to have users pick from a list of possible texts, otherwise users might be confused what they are supposed to post.
-Removed the spectate-button. (keeping up with engine versions slows down development too much)
-The report button can be further streamlined.
