So, there's a FPS mode for controlling individual units in the game. To use it I think you select a individual unit and press CTRL+V. (I'm not sure because i've rebinded the key. All of the controls are rebindable and somewhere in the camera settings.)
FPSing works very well with scout units, sniper units and turrets (you can fire in three-rocket bursts with the cheapest missile tower), as well as tanks. Basically any unit you would consider microing. Controlling gunships is glitched where moving "forward" will make your plan turn around and move in reverse, making firing impossible. Gunships (and bots) also can't manually strafe, since all units can only go fowards or backwards in the direction they face. Planes are controlled very well, but camera control in-flight makes direct control in a real game unviable -You'll see if you try it.
Keep in mind the one big drawback of being unable to command while in FPS mode. Remember kids; don't throw the game.
