Now do it with cloakies :3

I think cloakies would be easier. On a map like this the added speed and lower weight of glaives compared to scorchers would greatly help in raiding.

I was very lucky with enemy factories. No Hovers, no vehs, just 2x cloakies and 1x shields. CAI fails with Scythes and isn't capable of creating decent shieldballs.

Sponge, go try with cloakes if you want. If you want to raid with glaives, every defender is pretty much guaranteed attrition for the CAI, no justifiable amount of glaives will get through an llt and even if they do, their dps (compared to melee range scorchers) is just meh.

Not to mention that bandits pwn them hard, unless you give them manual retreat orders. Cloakies require heavy manual micro, which is exactly the thing you're short of against 3 CAI.

And i mean, slashers are just so strong against everything that's trying to crawl into your base early on, as are scorchers. But feel free to go ahead and show me how it's done :)

It takes 2 glaives to kill a defender and 3 (4 to be safe) to kill a LLT. 4 glaives costs the same as 2 scorchers, which is what is needed to kill a LLT. I can't demonstrate this because I have always been unable to beat this challenge with any fac. My macro isn't good enough.

Wrong. Only one Scorcher is needed to kill a LLT, two if you want to be safe. Before the nerf one Scorcher was enough to be safe.

Scorcher has a weight advantage. After 1 defender or llt (or 1 com sighting), it still deals 100% dps. That's absolutely not the case for glaives.

To demonstrate the early raiding part, you don't need any macro whatsoever.

Well, thinking about it now, the point of the CCR macro challenge is that you actually can focus on your macro and learn how to do it. As such, using units that fare quite well when left to fight-move is absolutely the right thing.

I think there's been maps called "macro micro" for different blizzard rts games where players had to macro on one part of the map and at the same time micro somewhere else. These two areas were completely independent.

With tournaments being monthly now and the competitive playerbase growing, maybe this could be a new SP challenge.
