I mentioned in another thread how alt+click will add non-repeating units to the front of your factory build queue, and a lot of people mentioned how they didn't know about that feature. I think I didn't learn about it myself until about a year ago, even after 1k hours ingame. So! I think it is a good idea to have a guide that lists these often unknown techniques for people interested in advancing their gameplay. So go ahead and suggest away! I'm pretty tired atm and I can't think of anything else off the top of my head. Don't be afraid because you think some technique might be too obvious. A lot of this stuff is undocumented and many people might find it helpful.

Someone mentioned that pressing alt while deciding terraforming height will snap to nearest 15 units. This is correct, however, when holding alt, you can't change the height by moving your mouse. Can I suggest this be allowed, but still snap it to every 15 points. And that someone mention that the height of an LLT is 60. (and thus 30point is a good wall height)

You cannot move your mouse during height selection except with level sample mode. Height does not snap to the nearest 15 with level, that would make no sense. It instead snaps to the sea. Anyway there is no point documenting terraform commands on a tricks page. All the terraform commands are documented on the terraform page. Translate the important parts of this page: http://springrts.com/wiki/Using_OrdersThis thread contains a post by me about many of the little know functionality in custom formations: http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=26403

From Widget Philosophy topic ( http://zero-k.info/Forum/Thread/1037 ) : "I can make constructors drop a HLT in the way between them and the projectile then cancel it 1 frame later... nanowalling widget" I have see players that wich one COM did build 20 units(defender/solar/etc) wich 1 "nano" frame only, and all that in less that 1 seg, some like them using Build Line (SHIFT) but it stop at 1 frame and fast start the next one in the queue, how them do it? A command or there a widget that whem ON make all your build stop at 1 "nano" frame? If yes, a link plz, i want it too... Another thing i want is a way to have all map in a grid, like the grid that have under bases whem you select it to build. (and /wiremap "hide" map texture, so that not what i want, i want grid + map texture like the ones under a base whem you select it to build)

And to contribute something, when you will select a builder to reclaim the metal in an area, mark repeat, and he will do this forever, including when new metal wreckage appears that part of the map.

Ah yes, excellent mention, if you hold 'Q' while placing a unit it will place just the nanoframe.

The Grid Map that i want is something like the first screenshot on Niobium post in http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=479209#p479209 , the second screenshot is the hitbox (ALT + B) {you can use it to see is some unit is blocking the line of sight of another unit}. So to get something like the first screenshot there a command or is it a widget?

"Ah yes, excellent mention, if you hold 'Q' while placing a unit it will place just the nanoframe. " Well, guess the nanowalling widget goes to the bottom of the pile then. =P I never really liked that idea anyway.

"Well, guess the nanowalling widget goes to the bottom of the pile then. =P" Hope that the one that the com "automatic" drop a HLT in the way between them and the projectile then cancel it 1 frame later, does not go to bottom of the pile. Only the "manually" thing that i asked is not more necessary.

To make different type of units move all at same speed hold down "Ctrl" while giving a move/fight/patrol order/command. To make units move into a "rectangle" formation hold down "Alt" while giving a move/fight/patrol order/command. Anyone have more tips?

Selecting a group of units, press "A", hold ALT draw attack line. The selected units will divide the line and attack. I'm sure someone can describe it better. It works great with Tremors and Wolverines (artillery mine layers) when playing chickens.

Err, what about the most useful ones? Tilde ~ (the key between ESC and TAB for non-English keyboards) + mouse buttons draw/place/remove stuff. CTRL X/Z selects all units of selected type (not) in a group. X/Z de/increases building spacing. The two keys left of Backspace to change building angle. F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 for various other things. I think these, in addition to selection keys for commanders, idle builders (btw it needs more default hotkeys!!) are the most important ones and not listed anywhere on zero-k.info.

Good ones, Skasi. Also, next to the drawing/point making stuff could be mentioned that alt+enter toggles ally chat. Aaand now I actually wonder why allychat isn't the default chatmode instead of global chat...

Nice, nice. Just in case anyone does not know this: Pressing 'L' shows the areas in LOS / covered by radar / unseen. Pressing ';' toggles the visibility of radar on the ground.

Crtl-enter Shift-enter makes your chat default to spectator only.
