Help Graphics Test the Engine

The new Spring engine needs to be tested with various graphics cards. To do this it would be great if as many people as possible would perform a short test.

  • Join the 'BLEEDING EDGE of Spring Engine' host, make sure it has engine version 'spring94.1.1-XXXX-stuff'.
  • Add any AI that you like.
  • Wait for it to download the test ZK version and engine.
  • Start the game.
  • Play around, if you want, or exit.

It would be especially useful if people without Nvidia cards could do this because those types of cards tend to have the most problems. If you crash then immediately upload the contents of infolog.txt (found in Settings -> Open Game Data Folder) to some text host ( http://pastebin.com/ ) and post the link here.

If you crash and feel like being extra helpful add the following two lines to springsettings.cfg (Settings -> Open Game Data Folder again).

AllowDeferredMapRendering=0
AllowDeferredModelRendering=0

Then try launching the game again and report the results.

Your pastebin link borked.

How do you make springie set the latest engine version if it's not there already? Says spring 94.1 for me in the bleeding edge host...

There is only one host with the correct engine version. !setengine may work if you enter exactly the right engine version.

Well, this is what i see (without me changing anything):

What to do (you know, aside from joining your game over there)?

It gave desync warnings and crashed shortly after starting for everyone. My infolog: http://pastebin.com/jbUiaSJ2. When deferred rendering was turned off it crashed much less. I built a windgen then a mex and it crashed part way through the mex. When another tester built things in the same game it did not crash though.

Intel HD 2000
i3 2100 3.1GHz

Was this battle: http://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/208240
Everybody crashed but me. I was able to build both a mex and a solar, TheSponge built a windgen and crashed midway through the mex (as did xponen, they crashed simultaneously). GF crashed even earlier for no apparent reason...

For future reference:
Radeon HD 7870, Driver version 12.104

http://pastebin.com/cXBnz4UE this is from http://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/208240 without DeferredRendering
-this game I crash midgame as spectator

http://pastebin.com/8baCVD6S this is from previous games where everybody just exited game and have no replay (with DeferredRendering)
-this game I crash at gamestart when placing factory

I crashed both game, I have Radeon Hd 7750, Opengl driver version 6.14.10.11931

nVidia through primus on Linux: crashes quickly after facplop / trying to build mexes. Setting
AllowDeferredMapRendering=0
AllowDeferredModelRendering=0
makes no difference.

AUrankAdminGoogleFrog You can just click Advanced settings - Edit engine config file (manually) to get springsettings.cfg open if you use ZK lobby.

Edit: Crashes also the same way with Intel graphics on Linux. It looks very nice before it crashes though, no graphics issues.

Infolog without those flags:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/971117/infolog-94.1.1-1475-g269064b-crash.txt
With:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/971117/infolog-94.1.1-1475-g269064b-crash-nodefer.txt

For other Linux users wishing to test:
The automatic download will probably fail. Download either 32-bit or 64-bit build from here:
http://springrts.com/dl/buildbot/default/develop/94.1.1-1475-g269064b/
(The file that starts with spring)
and extract to .spring/engine/94.1.1-1475-g269064b/
Then join another battle and rejoin the bleeding edge battle.

The new engine version is now built and hosted.

That no longer crashes for me. Thanks!

I also recently played a game with UArankBoycraft
using 1486-something, and we killed almost every unit and got the "overwhelming numerical advantage" but the game did not show the final stealthed rector to us:

Edit: I can't download the replay. Does the replay server support spaces in the file names? The spring something develop has a space before develop.

Actually we just played. After we couldn't find the rest of units and resigned I saw the enemy unit near enemy base: it was stealthed rector (builder of stealth kbot factory).

Here's another game.
The issue is that some units become invisible (shadow only)
http://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/208497
I think it has something to do with unit limits, cause older units were fine. Also sliding the draw distance all the way to 0 causes them to show up as ugly 2d versions.

They were invisible for me too (as he said at some level of zoom), I made screenshots if you need them ask.
