Hey! Im back! I just got a "new" laptop but when I run zero-k.exe windows7 says "zero-k has stopped working" and spits out this goop:

There's this file called "ZeroKLobbyErrors.txt" (in same folder as Zero-K.exe).
Need some info from this file to fix the crash.

Copy paste some text that write "FATAL" in it (the same date & time as the crash).

just taking some wild guesses:

graphic drivers? .NET version? directory write permissions?

Well there's your problem! Get ubuntu installed and it will work flawlessly.

Joking, but it may be worth a shot. Linux seems to have better logs and crash reports at least.

EDIT: Being an intel user, I can definitely say DErankAdminmojjj's suggestion of graphics drivers is worth trying.

You could at least type some basic HW specs, it may be low ram, bad graphic drivers ... But we never know until you post specs and logs.

Yeah Im getting pretty sure theres no way spring will run on this laptop, but I dont see why the lobby wont even start. Its a hp compaq tc4400 - dual core ~2ghz with integrated intel GMA 945, 2.5gb ram.

it runs kerbal space program at a decent framerate though! XD

zeroklobbyerrors.txt or any similar txt file does not generate. probably because the lobby has never successfully instantiated.

Any devs have a boner for error logs? This graphics card certainly doesnt cut it. Im entertaining the concept of attempting to upgrade my laptop (trust me, im an engineer!) but I think I might have to just focus on my studies instead. D:

No. Just no. There is no way that is going to be anything approaching playable even on a small map in 1v1 on minimum graphics.

Looks like DErankAdminmojjj was right.

I am really curious about this crash! Please go to Windows7->StartButton->"Event Viewer", then WindowsLogs->"Application Log". Find ".NET Runtime" which crash together with Zero-K.exe. It might reveal useful information!

intel gma 945 is like 13 years old...

If you want somebody to look at infolog, post the whole file.
But I think realistically nobody will bother to investigate crash of old spring version with old onboard GXF card.

You could try with safemode (see http://springrts.com/wiki/Springsettings.cfg )
Youtube has some videos of people playing games with that gma945 thing (HL2 COD 2 also note the link to modded drivers) so maybe with super luck...

this game always had problems with low videocards even if i dont understand why it needs so much...Intel R Hd graphics card is an example.

Also i wanted to ask....why is the game running so nice in singleplayer without lobby connection ( i can even play it well at 20X speed if i dont spam 400 fleas)( but works well at 10X speed with 400 fleas)
And if i play normally on lobby with 400 moving fleas on the map 2X speed will make my game run so slow...Can i ask why?

im gunna guess and say that the lobby automatically syncs you to a server and waits for response before rendering too much so your speed is bottlenecked by your connection and not your processors?

Because synced simulation, that's why. Your bandwidth (or the zero-k.info one, by enforcing reasonable limits per client) can indeed become your bottleneck.
