Tired of 4vs6, 8vs11, etc. games, plz fix it.

The idea behind this is simple. The balancer picks the combination where the teams' average elos are as close to each other as possible (only discarding cases where one team is more than twice as big): picking a "balanced" matchup would actually result in more elo difference.

I still think a little elo difference (100- 200?) is better that player difference, even more when the difference is 3 players or more...

Well since the high elo players gets an additional commander and the income of 2 players(you get that right?) they are actually strengthened by being in the smaller team having less lower elo players so I really do think that the team balance should strive to have the same number of players on both teams.

You could say that the same effect could be achieved by teamplay, giving resources and/or units to the higher elo player but that requires actual teamplay.

This weird balance has only started happening very recently, like, this week. Before that I've never seen a game balanced 4vs6 in the teamgames room, now it happens all the time.

What was the change that started making it? Revert plz. :)

Wrong! Multiplayer B197741 13 on Grts_RiverMouth_004 was a 7 vs 6 with average elos of 1736 vs 1818. Take into account that the highest elo player of the smaller team gets 2 commanders and the average elo per commander is 1736 vs 1851.

I've never looked into the mex sharing system but I highly doubt that they get two "shares" of the shared income. I'd assume every player gets an even share of the mex income. The only bonus is they have the slight income generated by the second commander.

No, they actually get twice as much income from mexes. I'm very sure about that.

I'm pretty sure they get just as much income as any other teammate, just a little boost from the 2nd com. :)

Just to clarify, this isn't idle whining. In the last few days battles have been balanced with an extra player in mind and predict is broken. For example

[11:05 PM] * Springiee2 15 players balanced Normal to 2 teams ( 1 : 2=50%)). 12870 combinations checked, spent 8ms of CPU time
[11:05 PM] GoogleFrog !predict
[11:05 PM] * Springiee2 team 1 has 41% chance to win over team 2

There were actually 14 people in that battle and nobody left or joined just as these actions occurred. The number of players it claims to have balanced is 1 greater than are present.
