1. pick a good map, like folsom
2. Place a crabe or other all terrain where units normally cant hit it, and it cant hit them...
3. Pyro.
4. Pyro will automagically shoot through the ground in order to hit the crabe/hermit/whatever else.

If you ask me gauss should penetrate terrain and fire should bounce not the other way around...

+1 to Sakthoth. That would keep the Outlaw from being the only unit with that distinction then if the Pyro lost that 'feature'.

Expect players to wall-in their pitbulls.

Walled-in pitbulls have no LoS and the walls can be terraformed down. If it is too common, remove its armor (open/close).

Walled in pitbull is probably extremely exploity, and no, the armour is way cooler than shooting through terrain. Getting LoS is not a major problem, getting a wall terraformed down under pitbull fire is.

So yeah despite the fact this is my idea and it got +7 votes it's probably prone to some tacky bullshit.

^ agreed.

I like the pyro weapon penetrating ground.. from a science perspective it makes no sense but it makes for lots of interesting gameplay - for example I always actively try to engage enemies through a cliff with pyros

Flamethrower noclip is hideously contraintuitive, and also contra-spec.

Everybody claiming otherwise should for a second drop their veteran bias and look at it with a fresh glance.

Flamethrowers penetrate ground because it is (at least was) impossible to make a projectile pass through units and be destroyed on the ground. Pyro projectiles which bounce of the ground lead to strange extra damage with no visualization of this fact. The effect used to go through the ground regardless of the behaviour of the projectile.

Pitbull Gauss is just a worse HTL, so better to just change it's gun to something else.

P.S.: Pitbull is not in http://zero-k.info/Static/UnitGuide anymore.

@ Walled in Pitbull:

Not too bad if you could use seismics against it and only need 1!

If you don't want to invest into silo: it costs 400m+terraform and you can usually go around or use shields (since last changes) to counter it while you dig it out.
Also rackeeters could be changed so that the missile comes straight from above.

@ Pyro Flamethrower:

It does damage over time - it is unique.
Not the weapon has to be unique in a weird way, but the unit overall has to be interesting.

Pitball should terraform the ground downwards :D, it slow you there is not much that can be done with it. but it should be like a seismic bullet.
