*shurgs* seems to prefrom well with 4v4. Haven't run a big game yet on it yet, but I do wonder about metal.

4v4 is 'large'. Anything above 4v4 is 'ludicrous'.

The hills left and right don't help because if the enemy is already there he has the most metal spots too.

The hills are good places for windgenfarms, or missile towers to defend high priority buildings hidden in the cliffs between them. Thanks to the height of the hills there wont be any problems shooting over fusions, silos or anything the like and glaives as well as other raiders will have a hard time hiding behind these buildings collision volumes. The natural terrain will also most likely block off all but one side of such buildings.

Anyway, that's still very low priority I guess. There's so much economic potential in the four geothermal- and many metal spots. Not to forge the little height bonus in the center.

Also note that all 4 hills and middle has super metal spots - ideal for overdrive.
So cap them asap

Good place to hide buildings, nukes, winds, fusions, etc.

Commanders that drop from the sky get stuck on a hillside. Pls amend the boxes a bit, I suggest moving the box back edge a little toward the center.
nvm was just newb who phailed at placing xD

imo, the best map for a well rounded 6v6 - 8v8 experience

I have never liked this map much. It is too easy to spam avengers and kill all the enemy commanders at the beginning outside of 10v10.

I remember much appreciation for this map by the CA community back when it got released. For some reason I feel like it's been more fun back then and I can't figure out why.

I can - average player skill level was much higher.

I'm guessing games were less overcrowded then.

Also there were fewer trolls, no pathing bugs, and a man was entitled to the sweat of his mex.

This map is actually pretty unforgiving to newbs. The hilly choke-y central landscape gets them porcing up and focusing on heavier units, but the back area is flat and quick to get to so a single raiding party slips through and then murders everything. They thought they were getting DSD and instead got CometCatcher.

I don't get this part. As far as I can remember we had 95% communism back then, without the current "singu owners get most of the pie".

Thinking about it. Maybe this map was liked so much because of the relatively low number of mexes. After all, we didn't have areamex.

... gets incinerated with phoenix and cut up by a banshee swarm, assuming any skill on the air players.

(that's me bitching about "aircraft have too much stopping power against penetrative attacks")
