Does it actually play well with ZK though? I mean, there are hacks we could do on server-side to tweak or eradicate the typemapped roads.

Afaik speed bonuses don't apply in zk by default, only the typemap that prevents movement completely does.

Default is keepequal. keepequal means that only terrain modifiers that are equally applied to all movement classes get kept - otherwise it reverts to all-1.
