Maybe circuit is far from perfection but its very good AI. Great work has been put in it.
ZK have also unique individual unit AI which isn't in many RTS games.
Universal AI is hard to make anyway.
If there will be ZK testers then most problematic for them will be not AI by itself but understand game mechanic. ZK is one of most advanced RTS game ever. Especially in individual unit AI behavior and command options.

@Senavan thats propably why they choose Zero-k. Also 2 Teams are working on it and also on Civ so there is gotta come out a very interresting AI, since the AI is not supposed to play Zero-k but to understand it and also Understand other games we get a very interresting AI out of this. This is propably also the first step where AI gets bether than the Human.

I would hope that they freeze their ai to work on 1 game patch and 1 engine version.

I remember from open ai's strike at dota2 that the software engineers themselves didn't know much of anything about advanced mechanics in that game, but with a self-learning neural net and millions of tests the model learned to do advanced things on its own, like animation cancel and creep block. But the ai never seemed to get warding or dust/smoke right, and to make the ai kill Roshan they had to make significant game mods (1hp Roshan) for the ai to even start"looking" at agis of immortality. The ai team using zero-k will run into problems which can easily be solved by limiting scope, like a unit/factory ban list, map list, and most interestingly teraform.

And, of course, the goal of this is to test general ai, how were can build it, how long it takes, what are it's limits, and probably won't be of much interest to our community :( even when we really want it to be.

I think ZK need CircuitLobsterAI for newbs. It plays like newb and build at start storages and shields in base and then start spam random units + morph com. That would be most confusing Ai in entire RTS history.

if the ai is smart it will just peep at zk`s code and decide it will go somewhere else.

If anyone catches some updates from them anywhere, please let us know. I'm quite curious about game AIs in general.

Also, anyone tried to train neural nets for an AI on ZK? So far, cannot find any.

I hope that it will be unleashed in lobster pot. It would be very fun if it would learn how to use newton ramps and other unusual strategies.

Here

The team working on Zero-K also intend to break FreeCiv.

It rather reads like they want an AI that in time could give some pointers on how to disrupt a real world adversary whether nation state or something else entirely.

Probably won't be many DARPA AI vs Zero-K player exhibition matches though, which would be a pity since it would probably be PR manna.

I tried just recently but I was too unmotivated to write a forum post yet.

CHrankAdminDeinFreund, please do. I believe there is a bunch of ppl including me who'd be willing to learn a bit, or at least be curious about it.

why are so many people exited that zk is used to create real-life weapons?

Out of the things I've worked on, Zero-K is by far the most harmless in the hands of the military. They can have all the fun they want whole-history rating their soldiers.
