From what I've seen, the AI knows how to launch nukes but doesn't know how to stop sending them into areas covered by antinukes. It just keeps failing to nuke the same spot over and over.

AI can do a surprising number of cool things, it just most are fairly low probability.

The AI is not good enough unless it can beat the top players consistently like the Chess AIs can.

If only we could have afford hundreds of millions of dollars in losses like DeepMind, then we could also have Alpha-K to sometimes defeat top10 players.

I tested fighting against the AI like this, with my own stratagy. It feels like the AI is cheating because it starts with 2X the possible units and +6/+8 extra income. Adding a null AI to my side gives me much less of a handicap, equalizing my income to that of the AI as well as giving me a 500m/500e handicap in the form of the null AI's storage. Venom did very well with kodachis distracting and raiding the AI. but being against an extra com he didn't really slow it down.

I definately play more aggressively, expanding faster and focusing on the bottom line of my metal income above all. I tend to also leave my expands very naked. It's intrersting how when Venom uses gauss turrets, they become a hardpoint that the AI has a lot of trouble attacking, and the AI will run face first into an llt line much more easily.

Null AI works well as a handicap in your favor playing against 2 brutals with a small start location. It could be interesting to have an 'extra com AI' that donates the com immediately on gamestart, or even a way to comshare like in the campaign, 2 players 1 com.

There originally was, but this was hacky. Maybe I'll look into it.

@_Shaman, might as well ask you directly-what do you think of a tournament between teams of n size, but every team only spawns with a fixed 2 or 3 coms?

Depends on a number of factors such as how the commander start locations are set, etc. I want to make my automated commshare widget be able to select the location of allies. I don't know exactly how the engine does start locations or how zk has implemented them yet but that's a task for some day in the future.

There's an option to set ai spawns via map markers, probably just copy parts of that. Under advanced setting in a room, under start tab. I realize now it can be a lot more complicated than I think.
