my lobby (spring.exe) uses 30% of my cpu before i even launch the match is that normal.. in game i had so much lag at the start and by midgame that i had to disable most widgets just to get it playable. i can play witcher 3 just fine on high settings so i find it odd that a lobby is so demanding.

my pc is old but not too old to play im sure

They mine monero on your lobby and you can't opt out...
Suffer oriented develobment, the more your playerbase suffers the better develobber u are
But u have to say thanks for low priority mining at least, otherwise u wouldn't be able to play at framerates higher than one per second at all xD

Same for me on Linux where Steam Overlay doesn't even work currently. I think it's just spring's main loop. I hope something can be done to make this less heavy.

Try minimizing the window properly, this should minimize the cycles used (it will suspend rendering).

For in-game performance drain should be negligible.
