Currently there seems to be some sort of UI freeze bug making its way around the team game scene. I have observed the following symptoms of the bug:

1. It is only present late game in large team games (20+)

2. Once it starts, it seems to have no cure and will continue until the end of the game.

3. ONLY the interface freezes up. Game continues just fine, but you're left in a state where UI actions are locked. For instance, zooming in/out will not work, sending commands just get frozen in time, selecting units doesn't work, etc. However, the mouse cursor moves around just fine/still animated.

4. If you're in the middle of sending a command, the command itself is delayed until the freeze is over, yet the feedback that the command was made still exists.

5. Freezes last on average 5-30 seconds long. After a freeze, it takes several seconds before the next one.

6. CPU usage is within 50-60%, but spikes into red territory when unfreezing.


Things to try:

1. Different lobby (weblobby, zkl, etc)
2. Nonsteam chobby
3. Luaui reload

Please leave some information to help track down this nasty bug.

I had some mini-freezes in some late games, but never 5-30 seconds. Rather 1 or 2 sec.

From the description it looks like it's the hang detection causing a hang.

I have mini-freezes in big games as well... Game freezes for 200-300 msec each 3-7 seconds for some reason
TAB player list is totally unusable in big games as it causes massive lag spike on opening - everything freezes for 1-2 seconds at least

I also seem to have high network latency from month or so, though I connected via optical fiber and my ping to zero-k.info is around 55msec, but in game I have observable order delays for 400-500msecs... Happens not every game again. Will need to dig more on this

This is true, tab always a bit laggish even in smaller games, but has been the case since the implementation. This is not new.

Nothing has changed clientside in the last ten days. The executable and the content is unchanged. So, to me, the culprit is the server as it was updated a few days ago. Same over here.
Big battles become unplayable.
I just tried to set graphics to lowest,
but I also suspect it is a server problem.

So, right now I have to stay with tiny battles
and can´t finish my campaign.

Also happens in battles that are also somewhat small. even 2 players VS 1 brutal (sometimes with a chicken in there) it still freezes.Some Campaign battles become literally unplayable.

The main problem is the game seems to "skip" any user input, when it starts to catch up. Also, it is possibly on client side, as it affects even Replays, when you set them to run at higher speed.

I suggest if there were any attempts to change the way game is catching up, it should be reverted, because laggy game is somewhat playable, game you can't control is not.

On the same note, there is still a HUGE delay and total game freeze when someone goes AFK/back from AFK in big battles
please, do something about it... it's very annoying to get all game frozen on top of dealing with AFKers shit
and I would very much appreciate the option to unsubscribe from receiving any AFKer units... For now I have to dump my elons to stop receiving them...

zooming in close reduces but doesn't eliminate the chugginess, playing without any terrain deformation seems to reduce the problem also but not eliminate it in my limited tests. Widget profiler doesn't throw up any that hint at a problem either

Log out and see if the issue persists. This issue has suddenly popped up after 10 days of using the same clientside data. People started reporting it just after a server update.

I am having the same problem on the Thibella campaign mission. I made it through the mission without a problem on the pre steam lobby but now the mission is unplayable due to freezes on the steam version. I've lowered the grafics to their loweest level and zoomed out until I only see icons but still it takes 3-5 seconds, or longer, to respond to a key or mouse movement. This problem seems repeable if there is any way I can help diagnose what is causing it.

The crazy thing is that nothing has changed over the report period. I noticed a bug like this a few days ago and feel like I would have noticed if it was present a week ago. Here is the history of the Steam depot:

I can reproduce the issue by watching old replays at high speed. I can barely do anything while catching up to big teamgames at the moment.

My best theory at the moment is that a windows update broke SDL. This can be investigated by having as many people as possibly post whether they have the bug and what OS and version they are using. Get your version with 'winver' in Run. I am using Windows 10 Pro, Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.48).
