Solution: Only consider players.

Also make votes anonymous, cuz nobody needs to see the spam.

Alternative: Replace individual resign with "Give All", so:
1) Players still only see what their team sees - no speccheat.
2) Players can return to play if they change their mind and someone decides to give them units.

Or make resign a team-only poll. You want to resigb? Enemy team wont know it. Also mute all !commands.

Alternativly, sppam !resign polls all the time so enemy doesnt know if u trolling again or actually resigning.[/pluk]

why not just get rid of individual resign? If someone doesn't want to play then they quit the game, i generally always quit rather than resign. it quiting frees me up to watch kittens in youtube while waiting for everyone else to realise the game is over.

Yes, this is an ideal solution.

Blast from the past: Long before ZK when it was still CA and the engine made it a lot harder, I had set up "Teamspec" and "Backup" factions where players can spec but be restricted to a single team's intel. Teamspec could never receive units, Backup could receive them. It wasn't used much, but it was an option, the intent being that users could dispense advice to a team without spec-cheat, or other possibilities. It was removed when Springie Elo rankings came into being because ranking calc didn't account for it and it would have resulted in miscalculations of Elo. Fun to remember the very experimental days.

Teamspec is very easy to implement with the newer Spring versions. Technically it is possible for players to do it right now, if they give all of their units away then they will still be a player in the game.

I think we should encourage players to remain active in the game up until either a) the team resigns and loses the game or b) the player resigns and leaves the team (becoming a spectator or just leaving the game altogether).

Implementing teamspec would encourage players who have lost all their stuff to stop helping the team. The best course of action - and one we should continue to encourage - is that they're given some units to control so that they can keep helping their team.

If someone wants to stop playing, they should be dropped from the team and treated like any other spectator.

There should probably be some warning icon showing teammates that a specific player lacks any units and buildpower. The same icon could probably be turned into a share button. Similarly, players without any units/bp should get a warning that they can receive units from allies. This would probably prevent a few cases of new players leaving a game thinking they couldn't participate anymore. "Wait until an allied player gives you control over some of their units." or something along the lines.

Yeah, asking for cons can get tedious after a while... both for those asking and those potentially giving...
