i think it would be nice if there were more fire units. there is only one currently and it comes from a hard to use factory. maby rearm the scorcher with a flame thrower.

There's also Golly and Dante but those don't really count. Flamethrower commander module would be interesting. A flamethrower assault unit would make a lot of sense, since flamethrower stomps buildings and penetrates solar walls (or whatever) but doesn't deal much to light units.

i looked at the sorce for zk and there is a flame thrower you just cant use it. i want one tho. a flame tank for the heavy tank fac would be nice and a flame spider would be interesting.

What the hell? There's TOO MANY FIRE UNITS. Its one of the most used weapons, that's so silly. Pyro, Firewalker, Firestorm, Kodachi, Goliath, Inferno and Dante. Not to forget Napalm Warheads for three different commander weapons.

He's talking about flamethrowers. There are three units that have them, and Goliath's and Dante's flamethrowers are overshadowed pretty hard.

I think the problem with fire weapons is that as you add more of them, it becomes increasingly difficult to balance the entire Shields factory. Shields are already pretty hardcountered by fire units and already have strange balance. More fire units is just going to lead to more weird countermeasures for the shield fac.

As long as fire penetrates shields shieldbots cannot be balanced properly. They will either be op without fire units or up with fire units.

Jasper, you shouldn't have to build an entire new factory for a damage TYPE. I agree that there are many situations where it is fine to build a new lab to get a good unit that you need at the moment. The problem is, the more Flamethrower units you add, the more often you'll be switching away from Shieldbots. Eventually, you would have to either make Shieldbots incredibly OP against everything else to be balanced against fire units, or you would have to leave them as they currently are and be hardcountered by every lab. Or we could just let shields absorb fire damage and be done with this. Seems like the logical decision, because I've never understood how Shields can absorb lasers but not fire.

what about a fire extinguisher unit/weapon? wouldnt prevent units from catching fire, but it would be possible to stop it. on unit explosions, please fix the reef which doesnt have any death animation, it just disappears... sad for such a big unit.

If your Shieldbots you have alot of units other then thugs that are good vs pyros. If you see pyros dont spam thugs and you should be fine.

Lets see: Bandits vs Pyros: Even Thugs vs Pyros : Lose Rogue vs. Pyro: Lose Vandal vs. Pyro: Lose (lol!) Necro vs. Pyro: Lose (lol!) Aspis vs. Pyro: Loose Outlaw vs. Pyro: Even Vandal vs. Pyro: Win Dirtbag vs. Pyro: ??? Roach: Even So only one unit from shields definitely wins. Dirtbag does no damage so it is hard to tell. Roach is hit-or-miss. Call it a draw. Now, let's ignore pyros, shall we? This thread was about adding units with fire, not about adding Pyro to all the other labs. Pyros are one UNIT. Let's talk about the damage type, not the unit, since that is what discussion is about.
