When you morph a cloaked commander, upon finishing the morph it will decloak for a short time (enough time for units to get a lock on and shoot at it).

Again the new unit adding and removing the current one feature...

Again the solution - don't morph.

Can this be fixed in a system where commanders are created anew?

One change (not a direct fix) could probably be making commanders unable to cloak while morphing. Though the question remains whether this is wanted.

Another fix could potentially be a new commander system I read about. If morphing a commander did not create a new unit but rather change an existing unit (which would be possible, but not without some limitations) then bugs like these would not occur. From what I understood some people are already working on this. As such, a direct fix to the issue would not be needed in the long term, provided that the new system gets accepted.

Make commanders morph like old units used to - freeze the comm. Indirect nerf to all coms.

Possibly. You could read the cloak state of the old unit and apply it to the new unit.

USrankaeonios that is already the case and does not fix the problem. Units take a few seconds to cloak.

Cloak state (as in: do I want to be cloaked) is copied but not the cloak status (as in: am I cloaked).

But it would require a lot of care to reapply that. There are many edge cases one would need to take care of -- for example the commander may have gotten a shield during the upgrade, or was on the edge of an area cloaker but no longer is.
