I installed Zero-K lobby on Win7 without any problem. Now I want to install it on my Linux Mint 17.1 (Ubuntu based) laptop, everything gets fine until I try to join a game. It start downloading engine 98.0.1 and gets stuck at 12.1 Mb. I restarted computer, copied the 98.0.1-451-g0804ae1 directory from my Win install, but yet it starts downloading over and over again, and always gets stuck at the same point.

Any idea of a probable cause/solution on this issue ?

Hmm, sometimes the file server is dumb like that, but the game is currently using a more bleeding-edge dev version of the engine. If you create a new game in multiplayer you should pick that up automatically.

try installing the package "p7zip-full". Solved it for me in Ubuntu 14.04

Thanks ! I grabed the package from the adress in the log and installed it manually, it works fine now. I had to struggle a little further with the "white texture" bug but found the workaround in the forum. Time to play !

I will try to install the p7zip-full package for automatic install in the future.
