If the really big units all got moved to the Strider factory, wouldn't that create a distinct "tech 2" of sorts?
A hover strider... doesn't make enough sense. Hover units are all about being fragile (but somewhat speedy) tanks with sea-travel ability and specialized roles. A hover strider would imply something big and tough and not really hovery in spirit or in action...
unless it were a support unit with loads of BP and multiple nano beams. That would be cool! A unit dedicated to dealing with deformed terrain that stymies hovers and other flat travel units! God

Ekranoplane!A gunship strider... Krow fits the bill too perfectly, what other concepts could fit the role of a gunship "strider"? Gunships are all about constantly skirmishing/hit-and-running enemy units with their omnidirectional strafing abilities with very little alpha damage, focusing instead on DPS.
