Nothing is too large for 1v1, larger maps just focus more on macro and fast units.

Every 1v1 I remember playing on this map was a horrible and mostly unfun stomp, one way or the other - simply because one player (mostly me IIRC) abused the nature of the map more and simply out-ecoed.

I would want to see Deserted Gully unfeatured in 1v1 before this (that map is just silly) but I'd not weep for either. Eye of Horus, Comet Catcher, Bandit Plains are almost as big (or bigger!) but feel much better suited to 1v1 play.

Comet Catcher was made to be played 3v3, Deserted Gully and Bandit Plains 2v2. This particular map is made for 4v4. Every game I have played on this map resulted in silly spam of raiders usually bots, like glaives, bandits or pyros, facing each other or one player will just stomp the other with his superior eco.
Comet Catcher works well in 1v1 because its relativly flat so you can micro there without many problems. This map however is really rugged so its offly hard to micro thus makes this map almost purely dependant on macro.

Dunno, I've had some quite fun games here. I love map diversity in ZK and large high eco maps like this one definitely bring something different to the table compared to a regular, average sized map like Titan Duel.

It's relatively pleasant to look at as well.

A CCR with some terrain is not a bad thing.

If a map is skipped most of the time it comes up in a 1v1 lobby, and (to make up a number) 80% of the games on it are ridiculous and unfun, is it worth keeping for the sake of the remaining 20%?

are there stats of a skipping percentage per map?

Is it? The 1v1 map pool is stuffed with low quality maps that often get !map voted away, but I never considered this to be one of them. It looks great, in my opinion also plays very well and is relatively different from most other maps.

Frankly if it were up to me I'd get rid of at least half the maps in the 1v1 pool if not more. If somebody wants to play on ugly or low quality maps they might as well as choose them manually instead of getting them shoved in people's faces all the time.

Games like Starcraft have official 1v1 map pools with less than 10 maps at a time, not sure why Zero-K needs to prioritize quantity over quality when it comes to featured or tagged maps.

Edit: there are 63 "official" maps with the 1v1 tag. This is WAY too much. No wonder the average quality of those maps is not high.

Oh, I quite like it as a map... but not so much as a 1v1 map. It's true I might not have a statistically significant sample of games but like I said, I've never personally played or seen a "good" 1v1 on this map. It's one of my favourite team maps, though.

I quite agree there are too many maps in the pool. Actually, that gives me an idea...

This is definitely a team map, this may be a 1v1 map, but I was quite surprised when it showed up in the rotation a few months ago (I noticed it right after the first NOTA tournament I commentated, this being one of the more frequently played maps there).

I think the terrain causes this to be not considered a 1v1 map. A veh start is too restrictive. Even with bots the map has less room to move in CCR and the mexes have a bit more clustering.

Most games I've seen on this map were just about showing how overpowered hovers are but I think it has potential for 1v1. Kbots would be used as a start fac most of the time but a tank/lveh switch is viable. The mex positioning could promote porc but I don't think we can know until it's played more.

I don't know how this ended up in Matchmaker. If this is remade then the texture should be fixed so it is much easier to see where vehicles can path. Currently there are important ramps that are very hard to see.

I assume you mean this The ramps aren't super clear, but they are visibly different.

Well, speaking as somebody who won their last matchmaker 1v1 game on this map, this map should not be in 1v1 MM.

Exactly. That they are technically different to the surrounding area is not relevant. Pathing should be super clear. I was arguing against this map being in the featured 1v1 pool ages ago. I think some people liked the map so I didn't take any action at the time.

It's a cool map but it's way too hard to play 1v1 on it. It's probably worse than CCR for 1v1.

USrankaeonios could you clarify? Those ramps make for nice raiding opportunities for all facs to keep the game interesting, but the hills still assure an advantage for bots in that area. IMO it plays a lot more diverse than CCR because it's not quite as easy to just expand everywhere.

I agree that it should be much clearer to see where vehicles can and can't go. The map being too hard sounds wrong, a map shouldn't deduct from the game's complexity.
