I have called attention to the fact that the Zero-K monthly tournaments have been a bit early in the day for US users. Most people who live in the EST time zone have been having to get up at 4:00 AM to make it in time for the tournament. So, I've decided to take matters into my own hands. I'm scheduling the first ever US tournament for 21:00 UTC on November 1st. This will hopefully get the US players into a tournament, as well as some of the people who live in Canada and down south. I am currently planning to contact a admin to ask if we can get a server up for that day. If any admins visit this post, PLEASE help. We need a reliable server for that day. If we cannot get a server I will try auto host. This is not the most reliable method but it should work in a emergency.

If you wish to sign up, post below.

Maps;

1st Round:

Isis Delta v2
TitanDuel
Ravaged v2

2nd round:

Red Comet
IcyRun
Alien Desert

3rd Round:

Avalanche-v2
Badlands
Darkside Remake

The final round has one game, and there is one map which is Zion_v1.

I hope these are appropriate for 1v1 matches.

Also we hope to have a admin there to award kudos of appropriate amounts.

We will have an auto host server set up, so we should be fine on that note.

This is open to all players, and once agian it will be on Nov. 1 At 21:00 UTC.

We will have Shadowfury333 streaming hopefully with either Hitbox or Twitch, To be decided.

Please actually say you are signing up below if you want to sign up. I came close to starting a sign up thread today because of that.

This is my first time setting up a tournament so please bear with me.

Thanks!

This is a 1V1 tournament. it is open to all players, regardless of skill level. I'm trying to get maps together at the moment, so please hang with me.

Thanks!

4:00 was too early so you made it 4:00. Makes sense. Honk!

What do you mean by that? Do you want your very own lobby-server? Or do you mean battle rooms? There should always be at least one empty open 1v1 room and if that's not enough players can just spawn their own Springiee rooms. Provided the Spring/ZK servers aren't busy dying.

Yes, I was thinking something like the room the monthly tournaments were hosted in, provided that's available.

The monthly tournaments use autohosts.

I don't think admins can help any more than by making a news post for Publicito and providing kudos to the winners.

Monthly tournaments are usually played in public or private 1v1 rooms. Public ones are called "1v1: All welcome!" and hosted by the Elerium bloodline of Springiee, private rooms can be opened via the "Open a new battle." button in ZKL's multiplayer tab or by sending a private message to Springiee "!spawn mod=zk:stable,title=1v1 tournament", followed by "!setengine 91.0". Maybe there's a way to specify engine in the !spawn command, I couldn't figure it out yet.

Small Supreme Islands isn't a common 1v1 map...

Hooray, I can sleep.

Also, don't let anyone shoot your tournament room idea down. It's not come up in the monthly series formally, but we have been informally shifting over to using user-made rooms (rather than the 1v1/Small teams rooms) to have a more descriptive title to avoid random people not signed up trying to play.

I meant to push towards tournament-specific autohosts (possibly with player whitelists, but that seems excessive at present) around June, but as mentioned it's become a conventional thing anyway.

However, what rules are you using? Single elimination, double elimination, Swiss? Best of 3? Best of 5 finals? What are you using for brackets (challonge.com is pretty much the resource for this)?

Yeah, I'm using challenge. Ill probably use Skasi's idea for rooms to generate one from autohost.

Its single elimination.

Can Eu brats sign on too? Or is this forbidden as this is american only tournament? :P

I would also suggest changing both 1st round map and 2nd round map. These 2 wont just be enjoyable for 1v1 at all.

You could just take 1v1 room or even make an autohost to start a game for you.

But overall I say: YES. The more tournaments the better :)

All people are welcome! I don't mean for this tournament to not include anyone. Also if you have map recommendations, please post them!

Also, if you are participating please actually say that. I need to make the bracket soon.

Thanks!

Only thing is if you're in EU, you will have to make time with EST, because that's the time zone this is in (+5). That's why i made it in EST is to make in easier for people in South and North America.

Thanks!

I'm sorry guys for the mislead about it being +5, its -5 as Skasi posted below.

Thanks!

Good to know it is single elim, but what about number of games per match? I recommend best of 3 for non-finals and best of 5 for finals, but at this point it is undefined.

Also, how maps are selected after game 1 of each match is also undefined. The monthly series has the last game's loser pick from all featured maps. Since you haven't defined a map pool (smaller than, presumably, featured maps) anything that involves pre-pick map striking or random map selection wouldn't be practical.

Also, in case it wasn't obvious, I intend to stream this the same way I do the monthly series, though I'm not sure if it will be on Twitch or Hitbox, since I haven't decided which to stick with after the October Hitbox test is done. I'm still leaning towards Twitch, since I've gotten a lot of technical complaints about Hitbox beyond what I got for Twitch, but tomorrow's tournament will probably have a large enough audience to be the decider.
