Hey guys, what's up with them sectors? It doesn't seem like that does anything at the moment, or are you considering using it in change of rules? Also the planet names now go in front of the clan logo some times.

Other suggestion: make the bars for victory go up to the amount needed, rather than 100%. Or put a big red marker there or smth.. ?

Sectors were randomly added by maackey and we can hopefully convince him to remove them. They clutter up the place and don't have any purpose. The clan logo thing was also recently broken by maackey. Planet name is less important than clan imo.

The victory bars do go up to the amount needed. For example 71 is the number of planets required for conquest victory.

Sectors do have a function. They make it easier to identify places on the map. I mean, how many time have you had to say something along the lines of "Its somewhere in the southeast near X alliance planet."

I support sectors - but what's about planetary systems, where everyone can attack everyone without wormholes?

But you need at least one wormhole to link your neighbor systems.

make a alpha quadrant like @ star trek :D

maybe the grid is to small and need a higher opacity / green-red colors ...

But I still support the idea !

Entilzha: pretty much what Willk said. I put them in to make it easier to find planets when people talk about them. Clan logo has long since been fixed to be on top.

The victory bars represent amount needed to win. If bar is completely filled that clan wins.

GoogleFrog: complaining that I break everything doesn't help anyone. I've spent a long time trying to clean up the site and remove clutter. I'm wide open to suggestions on how to easily locate planets, but the sector grid seemed the easiest and fastest at the time.

IonStorm: as usual I have no idea what you are saying. Thanks for the support, but what exactly are "planetary systems"? I wouldn't mind giving them alphanumeric names but the main purpose for the sectors is to find an area of the map easily.

Planet location has no importance, it's currently all about the topology. There are planets which are very far away from other planets yet are in the same sector.

maackey, you know.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planetary_system

I guess he's talking about several planets orbiting a single star and wormholes linking between stars instead of planets. It's kinda what I suggested two years ago. :P

I think searching a single Star is easier than search within 5 times as much planets.

Alpha Quadrant
-> Sun1 - you can only change the name if you control all planets around it.
-> -> Planet 1
-> -> Planet 2
-> -> Planet 3
-> -> Planet 4

AlphaQ.Sun1.Planet1 can attack AlphaQ.Sun1.Planet1 without wormhole.

To interact with AlphaQ.Sun2.PlanetX you need a wormhole.

To interact with BetaQ.SunX.PlanetX you need a more expensive thing like a jump gate.
( JumpGates should only jump over 3 links - or one link to another Quadrant )

If you control more than 50% of all planets in a Quadrant, then you get 10% of all money from other clans income.

Cool idea in some ways. Planetary Incomes would have to be reduced although for anything like that to balance.
