What if... there's a game variant/room, where anyone over 1600 elo has their offensive capability restricted. And can only porc. and all nabs below 1600 has their turrets removed?

This will force nabs into learning how to engage in combat, and pros to spot and predict trouble for their nabs. No Elo change for this variant.

Or Elo non-specific. Where you have defender slots and attacker slots.

Why do you think anyone would ever play a game like that?

But feel free to implement it if it sounds like fun to you.

I don't think one can implement this as an actual game room as sometimes you need a skuttle or five to defend your base from the newbie bantha. I think it's possible to teach newbies in other ways although I used a similar idea to teach a player why to make a screen for heavies.

The idea is to help newbies learn to be aggressive and familiarize them with PvP combat. They don't like single player because the whole thing feels impractical. They wanna see real world results.

Anyways, this will help new players to not porc. Chickens is a bad game variant to exist simply because it trains users to make a shit ton of turrets. No units. This takes that away so they have to learn how to use units.

Beyond castle building. I just came up with it, it still needs to be fleshed out.

They just need to learn to play properly from people who can already play properly. In 1v1. Just look at Andy, he went from 1100 elo to 2100 elo in just a few days from playing 1v1!

Ahem. Sure, you trained andy how to play RTS games in 30 games.

There is a slim possibility that being one of the best BA players ever helped him learn I suppose.

Actually, this gamemode sounds a lot like the chickens mode, the only big differences are that the nabs are the chickens and there are two teams. Could be pretty funny and/or frustrating.

Why not make a low tech game option - if you ever played original total annhilation it was always fun to turn off level 2 labs. In this game it would be equivalent of turning off large or late game units, for example the game would not allow you to make:

Annihilator
DDM
Nuke
Missil silo
Strider lab (turn off morph from units like crab)
Behemoth
Superweapons (BB, starlight,Xeneth, disco etc)
No com morphs

This would limit people to make lab units - people opting to defend will be limited to weak defense like defenders, LLT, heavy laser and gauss cannons which would mean units can overwhelm them.

The result will be porc/defense creep by the experienced player, and he will win :) (Well at least if we are talking about experienced >> 1600., and nab << 1600).

NO! I have a better idea.

What if... there's a game variant/room, where anyone over 1600 elo has their offensive capability restricted. And can only build llt's and defenders. and all nabs below 1600 has their turrets removed?

This will force nabs into learning how to engage in combat, and pros to make conballs. No Elo change for this variant.

Or Elo non-specific. Where you have defender slots and attacker slots.
