they need a rework, there's a bunch of useless modules and they are all just one big newb trap in general

one of my favourite things when I first started playing ZK was com morph but now it's a complete waste of metal 95% of the time and the only people who actually fall for it are the new players who join and think as I did "ooh this looks cool" without realizing it's just a broken feature

tl;dr: buff high powered servos, I want to be able to run fast

I see good players going for lv1 and lv2 morph all the time. Rarely past that, but lv1 morph is very common in 1v1s from what I've found.

Certainly made me realize how useful Lazarus Device can be.

Lvl1 is not really a morph, it is just getting yourself a com weapon and E cell.

Com morphing usually refers to getting lvl2 or higher.

Ah, true. Lv2 morph is something of a gambit, since you aren't building as many units. It can be useful at around +25 metal, though, since it builds quickly enough then to not be too much of a drain, and your factory+caretaker or factories are going to be draining -20, so the buffer is more likely to be there, depending on engis.

Lv3 and higher seems to mean either you are much better than your opponent and just playing around, or you are about to get steamrolled. At least as far as I can tell.

Getting lvl 2 usually refers to Lazarus device and maybe nanolathe or field radar.

yes coms are continuously nerfed into infinity
as player base complains at OP
player base continously fails to recognise that coms built for combat are regularly 2x the price of a scorpion/dante and will still die to either one
player base complain
devs nerf
sad times

This should be so.

Also, warlok routinely morfs his troll com in srs games. I hate that bish.

LVL3 means since I already wasted so much resources, morphing to LVL4 wont hurt.

LVL4 means just one LEVEL left to LVL5 to ultimate satisfaction.

LVL5 means scuttle or spy or stiletto and 5k m wasted.

What buff/nerf are you talking about anyway?

Commander morphing costs were increased some time ago.

IMO morphing take too much metal. If you morph then you suddenly have 0 income. THis is super dangerous!

If it has low priority option (like constructor) then I would probably morph more often (I will slowly investing in super expensive killing machine & use it when time come!)

What is the developers stand on Commanders? Is it something to play around with, or is it supposed to be a serious option to morph in every game type to every level?

TA has it's D-gun to keep commanders relevant during the entire game. I understand why you want the commander to grow with the rest of the armies.

In ZK the commander represents a good amount of your income and build power for at least the first half of the game. You don't want to turn your +4/+10 into a fighting machine and risk lose that income. You are better off making units instead and keep the income/BP separate. This is a fundamental problem with high level comm morphs.

Just to throw in an idea: what if we gradually switch the role of a commander as it levels up? You lower their resource generation and make the higher level morphs cheaper. Except for the support commander you'd emphasize it's chassis bonus at the cost of income.

The "gradually lower the ressource generation" already happens: The com's income relative to your total income lowers over time, as does its general importance. However, later into the game when you would have the ressources and wouldn't have to be afraid of losing your com, there's still much better alternatives (like more/better units or a facswitch or w/e).

The dilemma is that making coms good means strategies will evolve around frontline coms, but ZK should not be about 2 coms battling it out with the support of armies (especially since there's a lot of RPS potential here).

Also coms have the potential to be "uncounterable" by normal means, e.g. high range concussion shells with a bit of air support (and skuttle protection) is almost unkillable.

Anarchid the gradual but constant ones that have taken place over the entire time i've been playing the game

At no point can I remember a buff being given
that makes me saddest of all

Imagine 1v1 geyser. At no point in the game do i want to loose +4/+3.2 metal.

The resources you'd save (compered to the current situation) can be put into more eco and build power or an ever bigger army for a one time strong attack.

When you morph you get a temporary boost in firepower because of the cheaper comm morph. But you'll loose that within a minute because of the reduced income. This can make for interesting timing games. Timing the morph with the correct resource reserves can be a nice piece eco-management too.
I can also imagine the situation where you do a emergency morph to save a situation. That would be a victory for your opponent if he successfully retreats.

some morphes are pretty fine, most of the troll com layouts work very well vs newbies who keep feeding them cheap units. some layouts can kill dantes and such, or survive a skuttle blast or even dgun shot.

i think com morph isnt so bad, its just most newbies dont know when it will be totally useless. not sure if 95% of time its useless to morph, a lvl 2 morph for rez module makes cost almost always.

some modules need rebalancing i agree. stacked autorepairs are too good and some other stuff is too bad (like the 600 hp plating).

Klon, you can't say it's fine because it works vs newbies

and to say it's not bad just because there's 1 module that doesn't completely fail is stupid

when I said it fails 95% of the time, I meant morphing past lvl 2.

It's not a matter of rebalancing, it's a matter of buffing

and autorepairs aren't that great

Yes, morph is pretty nice already up to lvl 2. After that it needs some rework.

Some modules could use some rethinking indeed.
