I figured I might go where no man has gone before and try out the seemingly underpowered support commander. But I have one question: Does the resurrection module recieve the benefit of his upgraded nanolathe (at start, and with levels)?

Thanks in advance

The most evil thing is to kill a level 4 com and resurrect it right in front of enemy.

it dies to 2 sniper shots so yo better have massive amounts of porc around it or always stay in back....they are kinda worthless at begin of game, but if you manage to survive and get to level 4 and hold half the map and you don't let anything com from the side or behind you then you may be in good shape with sup com....assuming the stars align as well. They are very underpowered begin game and only mediocre end game, they need an econ buff imo. At least a +1 M per level upgrad automatically.

I agree he needs some kind of buff, but an econ buff is really hard to balance, since how much that econ is worth is very dependent on the map, and on any map with a good bit of metal is pretty much useless.

Since he's so poor at start, with lacking speed and weapons, it would be nice to see a buff to either his health or his nanolathe (power or range) at level 1.

I also think having a poorer econ buff isn't an excuse for the recon com to have more speed, health, weps and jumpjets at level 1. But that might be just me. Anyway there'll be much crying if recon gets nerfed.

It isint poor at all, I mostly use it. On small maps well yeah it suck, better just go battle com. But on bigger when u actually can morph till lvl4 it is very cool.

Biggest flaw for me is speed. It is snail. And big buildpower in early game is not really useful, for anything but healing.

I tend to disagree. The start of the game is when the com's buildpower makes the most difference, in either building up economy quickly, or assisting the first factory for a rush, before nanotowers make his buildpower irrelevent.

He is very decent at lvl 4 though, if a little squishy. But at level 1 being worse in every way than every other com (apart from the onboard econ) seems a little unfair.

Still, this is getting badly off topic, I might post this in the development forum.

why would you need to buff it? its perfectly fine. Makes a great sniper and a great builder. People who are whining about the health need to learn about shields, support com is only com of 2 that can use area shield, which is a very powerful shield. It can also use a cloak, or an area cloak. I use an area cloak on my setup, so if it gets hairy i can just cloak up and run away. Also has the advantage of cloaking units around it.

Also the shock rifle is amazing

I actually do use area shield, and I think it's great, but it needs an expensive level 3 upgrade. Sup com's fine then, later in the game, but at level 1 he is pretty crappy compared with the rest.

Getting personal cloak sounds a good plan, might give it a go. It should make him a bit less squishy, but I do think making him 'not there' is just avoiding the problem (lol).

I don't have shock rifle yet, but I wants! It's cool that he's got a unique weapon.

i dunno i like "sup com" as a replacement for hobo-com when i want to focus on units (yes on occasion i do make factories). I put 1 e cell and no weapon, and just use him as a starting eco-boost. E-cell is a very efficient energy source for its metal.

I you do that, you're asking to get pwnt in a rush, imo. I think we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Damn how do you edit posts?

I meant if you do that

I made a mistake, e cell isnt as efficient as solars, and winds ofc can be even more efficient.

I'd take up that offer, but I don't have any decent non-support coms to fight you with. Anyway, skill in the game is far more important than which com type you use.

You dont have any decent non-support coms? thats contradictory....

Lol! Let me rephrase: I don't have ANY decent coms :P they hardly have any modules on them yet.

my shock rifle com turned the tides against a push of 3 battle coms. Was about to lose the front so i reclaimed lab to get to level 3 (dual shock rifle). Upgraded just as they were pushing through our, well, our total lack of defenses, and then PING popped one of the battlecoms, right as it upgraded. Then they started running :D

Support com is fucking win.

On second thought, i like exploiting the range of the support com, but in order to give it any survivability for a combat role, i have to waste alot of combat slots. I think a health buff would be good. Doesnt need to be lowest health AND lowest speed. Low speed is suitable for its role, but health needs a boost, somewhere between strike and battle com, maybe even more than battle com
