Terraform is a great feature of ZK and one no other RTS has. But it's underused because it's too expensive. What if it only needed energy to run and not metal? Or only a minimal metal cost?

I wouldn't like to have less metal cost because then drains would not be at the 1:1 ratio. No energy cost makes it much too cheap. Terra is already fairly powerful so it should have some metal cost.

terraform is fine as is, it is used almost every game now.

I still din't see the promised delayed before beginning the terraforming. should I make a test game to see?

I think there is some delay now. I have found burying Reapers to be much harder in recent version (and I was the number one abuser of this).

There is a delay now and it works well (Other than being kinda frustrating when you do want to just quickly terraform and move onto another job).

IMO terraform is OP and should not be used it competative play. Most of the uses of it I consider 'abusive' and it especially messes up sea and veh/tank.

If projectiles tore down terraform a lot more or there was some cheap and easy counter it might be okay, it would be balanced into the game and just another mechanic. Right now though you have to move a con in and terraform it back down which is usually impossible.

E-only terraform would at least make leveling dirtbag piles economically feasible. It still costs more metal and time to terraform the dirtbag mound away than create the dirtbag and walk it to position.

Or just ban the dirtbag anyway, it's a bugsploit unit at best (because that's hilarioust at times), and boring at worst (because boring doesn't belong in a game!).

yes, as soon as people start to get used to it and how to quickly place with hotkeys it will be sooo abusive. They are like supersize dragon teeth that can be placed at an enormous distance form the constructor.

I'd like to see a special option that would lock the maximum selectable height difference to exactly the height you need to stop a vehicle from passing over it.
Or some predefined blocks of terraform with that same minimum height and minimal width.
Or a predefined square shaped terraform block you can place on top of a tank to lock it in.
Such a blocks won't cost more than 75 metal and can stop a 650 metal tank.

I'm not nerfing it unless problems are demonstrated. Spam terraform across maps to destroy tanks and tell me it works. Make widgets to bury expensive things automatically.

I like terramorph as it is, i would just be gr8 to have these options:

1. Allow to make another layer of map, to (dis)allow terramorph, so you can for example make roads not morphable.
2. Some mode fallback mode option, where dark areas of map (usually roads, rocks) will not be morphable.

Is restore special at all? That is, is there any kind of discount for restoring? Or is terra purely cost-per-volume? Because a discount for teraforming towards restoration would make sense.

1. Dirtbags are awesome, and they balance shield lab against veh and tanks (how are you gonna stop that golly again? riiiight... Dirtbag! A Krog approaching your base? OMG HE SHOOTZ GAUSS MAH FELONS ARE SO USELESS SHIT!!! NEED STUN NOW!!!! AIR PLAYER IS FUCKING NUB!! Solution - 50 dirtbags clog kroggie, while 30 racketeers stun it so that outlaws can kill it. Works just fine, needs about 10K metal in units to counter single krog + ton of epic micro).

2. Terraform can be countered just fine by seismic missile if it becomes really annoying. Crawling bombs are epic at ruining terraform also. At sea imho torps should damage terrain (like ALOT), esp sniper sub.
