Min elo is 1600 there
Min level 10

It was created based on some popular demand.
Its not part of the quickmatch system.

Right now there are two games, high skill for teams, and a AI game chocked full of low elo players.

I suspect thats probably what will happen in the future. At least there is the AI game for the low skill players to go to! I'd hope they're smart enough to go 'Guys you wanna play teams?' and change hosts, but given the history of game room momentum, I doubt it.

I assume low elo players can still spectate (There are two speccing right now): Good move.

I guess there will probably be people against capping this to max size 10 (splits a 5v5 into a 3v3 and a 2v2)?

This is great!

but imo 1600 is still too low. Imo this needs to be a VIP club for people to work towards.. if not 1700 then at least 1650!

I think capping at 5v5 would be a good move.. and then let the noobie host remain at infinite size.

I was really impressed by CoinCoinPowa's play and he is 1640, i've played some AMAZING high skill games at just the standard room split of 1500+

yay, a system that will make it HARDER to find 1v1 to 3v3 games.
i shall start grinding elo in the lolroom so that i maybe can play a 2v2 now and then.
also if you had some group that only played at this host, eventually some would lose elo to others in the group and drop under the limit. so from time to time players might have to refresh elo by noobbash? interessting concept.

In order to make this kind of experiment more complete, should there be a similar rooms for different levels?
1) Newbie room accessable by all
2) Average ELO room 1400+
3) High ELO room 1600+

Could it go both ways: average ELO room would have limit 1400-1600 so NO players with higher ELO than 1600 could access the room. Maybe mid range players want to play among similar skill level, without having überskilled players trolling around?

Probably the player base is too small for that... But the thought is interesting.

Hmm...first post on this forum. I have been playing ZeroK for over a month now and i got kinda addicted - now i am pissed. Because I basically got the choice between 1vs1 (boring) and Team vs AI (even more boring).

I think the basic problem is the lack of players, not the fact that newbs join "pro games" on a bad intention - they wouldnt, if there was enough players to fill 2 non-AI rooms. From what I have seen in the past month, this is only possible during "peak-times". Most of the time everybody had the choice to play AI or join the one room everybody is in (I personally dont expect the new max-size to change that, as the 20 player limit has also only been reached during peak-times).

I have been playing strategygames intensively for years and I know how fucked up the "dealing with noobies" thing is but this is the wrong way to deal with it. Practically I think you are enforcing a "2 classes" society of players what will ultimatively result in frustrated so-called newbs and a shrinking community of players. Do you think its a pleasure to play with real newbs and having no skilled player to learn from or being stuck in AI Games all the time?

Also, I share Knorkes critizism.

Try it for a few days and see what happens, if people don't like it just remove it

I dont think noobs enjoy getting squashed by pros

You're right topf, we don't have the playerbase to maintain this.

But I don't like playing the really large games, and playing smaller games with low elo allies is like playing 1v1 with speedbumps. So I find most of the time... I just don't play.

I don't know if this is the answer though. I think private small game hosts is a better idea as they have fewer players and no hard elo requirements (just allowing the players to balance themselves, speccing only when necessary). We have to boost our playerbase if we want to do anything else, and then room splitting will take care of it organically- If only 4v4 and lower were more stable (though 90% of the high elo games we just played tonight were below 4v4).

sure we have the playerbase. we had 2 rooms going all through the day.

we've only had this for about six hours. lets give it a week first.

I don't see a problem, topf. What's bad about 1v1? If anything it's too exciting - at least that's why I don't play them. Besides, more than half the players are <1600 elo, finding enough high elo players is harder than finding enough low elo ones, so your "no team games" argument is kind of flawed.

I think you are scared for no reason other than pessimism.

The thing is that higher-elo players tend to be the more 'serious' players that are willing to wait in a host a few minutes to seed a game. As a broad generalization, lower-elo players will only join the biggest current game, as long as it is big enugh, or just not play at all.

So the playerbase is dependent on the serious players forming the core of games that other player jump in on.

Zomg, epic idea. Make a big popup when players reach 1600 elo / lvl 10 that says "New feature unlocked! You can now play blah blah blah.. short explanation.. blah blah.", then add it to their quickmatch list. I mean just.. because everybody likes unlocking stuffs, no? They all go "Weeee! Wakka wakka! Look! This is how awesome I am! Hell yeah! I'm da best! Take this bitches!", no? Isn't that so? Eh? Eh? No? Say yes!

agree with skasi

strongly disagree with removing this room. From my perspective, I've been playing spring a long time I want to play other people who know what they are doing. Putting me against noob is boring, like proffesional footballer playing football against an old man - not fun for either party (unless you value winning over the challenge of doing so, like most trolls).
