Savegame BUG's

I noticed that savegame feature is currently heavily bugged and not in one but in many, many ways:
- All unit groups are lost upon loading the save,
- All orders (including automatic ones such ass caretaker assisting the nearby factory) are lost upon loading the save,
- Radars aren't working upon loading the save (to see anything I need to build another radar),
- Some animations are invisible upon reloading the game (units deal damage without actuall projectile/laser/whatever effect appearing on the screen).

Those are the ones I noticed and am sure of, there are also some other things such as units behaving strangely but that might be due to multitude of reasons.

Where do I report those bugs?
Who takes care of fixing those?
There is no tech support forum nor can I find any bug reporting form. Can I consider posting here to be enough of a bug report?

There is a bug tracker here: https://github.com/ZeroK-RTS/Zero-K/issues

If you don't make a report there I (or someone else) is likely to copy a link to this thread to the bug tracker, just to keep track of it.

Some of your bugs are known minor things and some seem more important. Little bugs and gaps in the gamestate are just realities of the current method of saving. I would like radars and orders to work, and believe that they did last time I checked. I am not sure what a missing animation is, or how it could even occur. I don't think any work has been done to save unit groups.

I'm not that keen to tackle save game bugs because we're on the cusp of using a much better save system. However, it is currently up to engine and AI devs (@hokomoko and UAranklamer).

Another minor issue is that when you terraform save and load texture does not save and is retextured as natural terrain with odd shape.

Thanks for adding that Zenfur!!! I completely forgot about that and I encountered it several times...

It was actually horrible on my campaign playthrough. There is this map introducing terramorphing skill and to finish it (it's absurdly hard btw.) You need to create elaborate network of platforms and walls... Problem is once You reload the game it's impossible to continue precision work since lack of terramorphing texture + grainy filter on map texture makes it impossible to see which square belongs to which height exactly...

To help with that you should use bump-height map using F1

I do. It helps a bit but not as much as proper texture would.

But to the subject itself: someone said there's savegame system rework in progress... Could You elaborate on that? Especially ETA part of it but also what will be possible in new system...

The new save system will solve all imaginable problems, seemingly at the cost of files that are about 100x larger (so 10MB). The only problems are that it sometimes crashes and it always breaks the AI.

10MB files are kinda small. I have lots of games with my entire savegame folder taking as much as 1GB+...

Breaking the AI and crashing heavily sounds like a hell of dealbreaker though... So... ETA somewhere between "the end of times" and "ain't gonna happen" right?

P.S. +1 to the person knowing the source of the above quote.
