This is a simple post about questions concerning the roles moderators/admins play in the zk community.
My personal questions include. 1: What roles do you play regarding the answering of player based unit concerns aka (flea nerf forum) or bug reports.

2: What did you do to become an admin, what are the qualifications and guidelines you follow to assure that your representing the communities best interest?

3: If a regular player would hope to one day contribute to the community whether by assisting in testing, experimentation, code writing, or other moderation tasks. Would that be possible as long as they met the prerequisites?

4: Is it possible to become an admin?

Thank you for reading I promise this is simply passionate curiosity. You guys have been amazing.

1) mod/admin job there is the same as in any other threads: keep discussion civil. Feedback for any changes to the game is read by developers (there is a heavy overlap here in that most devs are also admins but in the specific case of balance it is pretty much the domain of our balance designer, AUrankAdminGoogleFrog).

2) each addition to the team is done on consensus of the other admins, there are no hard requirements. The guideline we generally expect people to follow is the code of conduct but ultimately we try to act on consensus / common sense.

3) anybody can help us moderate by reporting bad behaviour (and generally fostering a decent environment by being nice). Anybody can also write code and create content, the game is open source ( https://github.com/ZeroK-RTS ). Testing and experimentation is mostly fine as well but since every developer is ultimately a volunteer it might turn out you need to act upon stuff you discover yourself or convince others to do something about it (see previous sentence).

4) yes (see 2).

I once had asked to become a moderator and I think I had understood that one needs to be a high elo player (but when I see sprung's elo I'm starting to have doubts ^^)

Rating (aka Elo) is not a requirement. The reason most admins have high rating is because investing a lot of time into the community tends to naturally go together with getting better at playing the game.

Yeah its all part of the package. If you understand the game and show the invested time through actions your naturally going to become higher ranked. Unless you play 20v20 lobster teams and lose
