I generally do Factory, Mex, 2-3 windfarms, Lotus.
Pretty early for turrets I know, but I HATE being raided early. It really sucks to have half your base demolished by a flea because your commander is out expanding.
I usually rush a few raiders and raid asap to annoy the enemy and throw them off their plans. A queued build order and early turrets usually means that I can pretty much ignore what's happening in the rear and micro my raiders for maximum effect. I expand a little more slowly than others because I build turrets with overlapping (if I can) fields of fire as I go. I used to rush ahead full bore, get my comm killed and collapse spectacularly because of no defence behind it. No longer. A systematic approach pays off imho.
What also works for me is sometimes holding off on the early rush, building 6 or so raiders and then raiding the second row of mexes out from the original starting points. You can sometimes catch and kill adventurous, un-morphed comms lie that.
