Introduction

Spiderbots (aka. Spiders) are a difficult fac to learn and use properly, because they really haven't got the greatest luck with health or armor values and thus will not last long in straight-up heavy combat. They make up for this with fantastic utility, scouting ability and respectable firepower through-and-through.

The most important thing to keep in mind when using Spiderbots is that you absolutely cannot expect them to last very long if put under severe stress of any kind; try not to use them on open ground as much as possible, and keep them around cliffs, hills or anywhere you can make use of their terrain advantage.

Always bring Weavers with your forces; they will be essential for repairing the damage you are inevitably going to take, as well as setting up defense and support installations on the way.

Remember to make the fullest use of your terrain advantage as you possibly can; the ability to go where normal vehicles and bots cannot is too good to not take advantage of. Weavers can be used to set up walls or ditches using Terraforming to deny land access to enemy forces, and this is heavily encouraged; if you can bottleneck or control the flow of your enemy, you have a huge tactical advantage.

In fact, I would suggest setting Raise Terrain to a hotkey so you can use it freely without needing to access the Special (V) menu and clicking on Terraforming each time. If you are quick enough you may even be able to trap tanks or heavy units in holes that may be coming your way.
