The battle was over. Whatever semblance of resistance the Hegemony spaceships were offering was now gone; their last remnants being chased away out of the star system.
The Spider Messiah was gazing out into the stars from his capital ship, the "Impalator". The messianic title was fully deserved: it was him who masterminded each of Rising Humanity's brilliant victories against the ruthless Hegemony. The first to recognize his potential was an obscure spider cult, which announced him a prophet and an incarnation of their Spider Deity. Each won battle, each saved human and each destroyed cyborg only served to confirm the Messiah's divine favour.
- Another great success! - exclaimed a huge mutant, all clad in golden regalia - a symbol of the old noble houses of Dynasty - who had just entered the bridge.
- Thank you, Lord Isonade. Take a seat. Would you like some lemonade? - Isonade was one of the Spider Messiah's most trusted lieutenants. As a person of power during the golden age of Dynasty, he had access to its vast genetic banks - always keen to increase his power even further, he managed to achieve superhuman strength and intelligence unprecedented even among other gene-boosted humans of the time. However, his greatest achivement - biological immortality - came at a great cost, as the mutation did not fully affect his brain and his mind began to slowly drip away.
Suddenly, a communications screen turned up, showing the face of an amphibian - it was common practice for AI diplomats to use such avatars for communication. What the avatar depicted usually depended on what the AI did during peace: in this particular case, the message header files suggested it was a search engine.
- Greetings - said the search engine amphibian. - We have reverted your control of the planet Ner'frocko and the star system BUF-G43T0R. It would appear that your forces there are outmatched. The reasonable solution is to give up immediately. Resistance is rediculus.
- You'll never win - the Spider Messiah quickly sent a concise riposte.
- I still cannot understand why we allow our troops to watch this machine propaganda! - remarked Lord Isonade. Indeed, nobody has ever bothered to limit access to these messages for lowly soldiers as the engineer teams believed it not an issue. - One day somebody will disregard their orders!

Lord Obediator was not technically a member of Humanity Rising; he was one of the Spr*ngs - an elusive hive mind race, which was officially neutral during the various human and machine conflicts, though they were known to secretly favour one of the factions during each. In the recent times, Spr*ngs tended to cooperate with the humans: conspiracy theories claimed that many of the ruling Lords of the Dynasty - or even the Spider Messiah himself - were actually Spr*ngs, though no proof was ever found, making any such claim a mere rumour.
- There is a bug in Hegemony AI mainframes that allows us to just report our victory, which will then propagate to all of their data systems. - explained Lord Obediator.
- Awesome! Inflict immediately.
- This is preposterous! - disagreed Isonade. - It would not befit us to use such a cheap tactic.
- Nah bro, it would be fucking baller - replied Lord Ivory, who had just woken up from the drinking party that took place the previous day.
- I expect you to relinquish this lawfulness mindset, Isonade, and be slightly evil. - remarked the prophet. - That is advice.
- Consider finishing this discussion later. - interrupted the Obediator. - All units are ready and awaiting orders.
- In the deed. Set course for Radius, and invoke the local resistance. It's time to retake our homeworld - ordered the Spider Messiah. - Glorious victory awaits.
