My game crashes out nearly instantly when I press the '~' key.

Me too. It crashes when I press '~', but in BA it is ok (??). I use intelHd latest driver.

It's carp's silly drawing tooltip widget.

What exactly could it do to crash the whole game though?

I found it. The crash is triggered by "Cursor Tip" widget. Just disable "Cursor Tip" widget and the "Selection & Cursor Tip" widget to prevent it from happening again.

IMO it is because of OpenGl. My factory loaded graphic driver is soo bad such that it cause 100% CPU load even for displaying "Commander's Name Tag". Updating increased the performance but caused 'Cursor Tip crash', but that is ok, maybe next driver will be better :).

I bet it is unique to intel's driver. :)

That's carp's silly drawing tooltip widget. He added a little tooltip that appears when you hold ~ and added it to Cursor Tip so you've got no escape from it unless you disable important UI stuff.

But why would the ~ tooltip crash the game but not any other tooltips?

kkkk, I found the fix! Just disable "Texture Compression" and everything will be alright. It is just something to do with graphic driver and its texture(!).

It is unavoidable... the game crash because of "~", and "~" only caused "gl.Texrect(x,y,x,y)" to be executed. There's NOTHING else there, there only "gl.Texrect(x,y,x,y)" and "gl.Texture()" (which executed depending on mouse click). Surely the problem was with OpenGl and texture, and somehow "Texture Compression" (being disabled) fixed it!

Dunno why, but the only solution.

This is a serious bug. When zk crashes, zklobby offers to lower settings but I don't know if it disables texture compression.

Googlefrog, you can disable the ~ tooltip in the menu without disabling the entire tooltip. It's a checkbox in the menu. ~ tooltip is for newbs and once memorized it can be disabled.

Sorry for not replying guys, I've been doing some travelling.

My problem seems to be fixed. I've noticed a new patch has come out and this seems to have solved my problems.

Thanks for all your input guys, although I never got a chance to try any of it I appreciate the help.
