I was hacker-dojoing at the hacker dojo, and our sensei mentioned this "Indie Games For Good" marathon gaming session for the benefit of the charity "Child's Play". They're playing a few hundred games over the course of as many hours as people will donate for. Basically, every time someone donates a certain amount, they will play for another hour. Yes, theoretically, this could go on forever, but hey, Charity, right? Anyway, I think this is the perfect way to publicize Zero-k, especially since anyone donates can specify a game they would like to "boost" up the queue, and schedule for a certain time. What do you think? Would any of you guys be willing to donate to us? You can check out the live stream (See if you can guess which one I am. Hint: I'm quiet and tall) at iggmarathon.com. They'll probably need someone to help me explain the weirdness that is ZK to the rest of the gamers. Not that the alternative won't be hilarious, as will the rage that our exploits. +0 / -0

[ACP]ScarySquirrel 11 years ago (edited 11 years ago) Thanks, Shad. I asked them, and Cloud-boat Armada added Zero-k to the games list. Because no one has donated, and it starts with Z, it's near the bottom atm. It has quite the nuanced description, though. I left the party, though. Might come back later today. We shall see. +0 / -0

cortezthekiller 11 years ago We shoud've got on the irc earlier, that was painful to watch lol. They sounded quite interested though which was good. If zk comes up again can you play scary? +2 / -0
CarRepairer 11 years ago It went well. Although they played poorly and didn't seem to have knowledge of RTS ("oh I can build stuff in this game?") it was very lucky that they chose a very easy tutorial where you have an AI ally to help you fight chickens. Lots of praise and they even showed the planetwars map. +1 / -0

I left earlier today, because there is only so long that I can go without sleep. If people donate again, though, I will drop by the Doj, join an 8v8, and switch the stream to it when the game starts. I will show them how an experimental RTS like Zero-K is MEANT to be played. +0 / -0

Would they even do a game already played in the stream again? Also, watching the stream recording, I'm finding it amusing seeing the woman on the right holding a Kyubey plushie. +0 / -0
