Once I was thinking why we dont have any bigger tank tahn Golly. We have many huge bots, but tanks end up on Golly. I though we can actually implement a bigger tank, as a strider.
Problem is about designign such a units. Then I found something interesting in the net. German P1000 Ratte from WW2. (I know, I know it was just a design)


OFC its model in ZK should be more... futuristic. Those pics are just to show you its shape.

It would have like 4 beam lasers (1 laser in each croner), 4 AA machine guns (those from Archangel, they are quite inaccurate), and 2 heaveir guns, in main turret.
I know it sounds a bit Op, but it could be equaled in lack of speed, being huge, and unability to pass through rough terrain.

I suggested upping Goli weight and putting it in the strider hub once! There's already Reaper in the hvy tank fac. Don't remember why people didn't like the idea.

Golly is still smaller than Sumo, which isn't in Strider Hub either.

I've wanted to try out a Baneblade-style "strider" for some time now. That would require actually having a model, though.

There is also no amphibious strider apart from Det.

Im afraid I cant make the model by myslef cuz I have no idea how to do it.

EErankAdminAnarchid , there is ulti (however it cant shoot underwater)

I don't consider Ulti a strider. More like a reusable Skuttle.

I do love the idea of a super heavy tank
although my brain defaults to the idea of the Baneblade whenever I try to think of one

Lol this one looks like Rhino from GTA VC :D
But its nice. I'll try to try make a ZK modle of that... but it will be a haaard work to do.

Was it "Then we will have Tech 2 like BA"?

I don't consider Striders to be "Tech 2".
Because BA's T2 needs more energy (not reclaimable) and is better for cost.

I love the idea that it can defend itself against anything as long as it comes 1 by 1 and cost only 200m or less - it is a strider!

It isn't OP as long as an army >1000 (>2000 if air) or >1/10 of it's cost can kill it if you use the right units.

How much do you want to restrict the laser's fire arc?
So that up to three can hit a single target, only two or that there may even be a small gap between two?

Even striders need to have distinctive roles and/or cost ranges, so that they don't obsolete one another :)

It could be good against ultimatuums with sweep-firing lasers to decloak them.

2 could be good against anni, but need a direct line of fire (unlike Merl, Tremor, Catapult).

No, more because the model clips through cliffs and stuff because it is so big.
But don't worry!
Now in Spring 94.1 units with big footprints can't go through small paths so a big tank is not likely to end up clipping the terrain. Of course the unit still thinks it can go through the small path and will forever be stuck trying to move through it but that will be fixed(eventually, maybe, sometime(OpenSource you know)).

No, DErankNeonSturm. We had striders back then too and stiders aint really considered t2 by anybody I think.

FIranksprang thats why I suggested using an existing unit! Role would be the same, we wouldn't just add more units for the sake of adding more and more, which I am very much against.

I don't think they should be T2 Skasi.

But if they cost 3k metal or even 4k, 2 should beat anni.
We can make the range the same, so that can neither outrange it nor have to fight 2 annis (if they aren't close together which makes them a good target for tactical nukes)

I think it would be good as a... well... a tank. You know lots of HP so it can cover smaller units, breaking heavy porc etc. BUT very slow movemnts, so it can be get tactinuked if used recklessly.

It dont have to be VERY huge. It can be, lets say, a bit bigger than vindicator.
