Let me preface this by saying that I had a goldstar on my previous account through playing 99% BA (with the last 1% being a mix of NOTA, CA, XTA, whatever). I am intimately familiar with how the game was played and I believe you are viewing the past through rose-tinted glasses. I'll address a few points first:
quote: 1) In BA you can be "eco man" and that's normal. In zk rushing singu = trolling. Even for rushing moho or simple fusion people becomes angry at you. |
I can't tell you how many BA games where I saw the "front guys" quit because they got rolled while the back sat and teched. They would get pissed because they eco player would wait till the last possible second to start making real units, after all front players had been killed. Then chat would result in huge arguing match "You should have helped me earlier!!!". Many times I saw a frustrated front player simply walk into techer's base and dgun their tech. (For those unfamiliar with BA: your com has an Ultimatum gun at the start. It can fire unlimited dguns and when it dies it blows up as big as a nuke and leaves 2500 metal. No, I'm not kidding. It's a very different game).
quote: 2) In BA most of units does real damage, there is no such things as gravity turrets even emp is kinda less used also there is no slow beams. That's why in zk some of these are used to "troll" like if you make roach ramp you are considered troll and not playing according to some imaginary rules. |
Yeah, this point mainly comes down to how you like to play the game. Unfortunately, roach cannons are usually pretty bad a start because they are expensive, they can't hold the front well, they often hit allies, and even if they make it into enemy base there are not very many expensive tech structures yet. I've seen innumerable noobs kicked by angry BA players for making guardians in their base at start. Could it be useful? Maybe. Could other strategies be
more useful? Probably.
quote: 3)Custom coms, com morph to LVL5 since it is not effective and generally is waste automatically puts you into noob or if you know that it is noobtrap troll category. Specially if you have highest ELO in your team because it greatly reduces chances to win and others might get and gets angry at you (try to morph your com while playing with burp, he always shouts at me :( ). Its like you are monk and sex is tabu for you, BUT DAMN I WANT... |
This reads as a giant run-on sentence so I don't quite understand, but I think you are saying 1)Being highest Elo on your team reduces your chances to win and 2)Coms are not effective. Well Elo is balanced around 50% average winrate, so it falls where you are winning and losing 50% of battles. BA is wayyyyyyyyy worse because balance is determined strictly in terms of time played. There are some really awful players with more time spent playing than people in the top 10 Elo, so this is a pretty moot point. As for coms: the same could be said of any 5k situational unit that is wrong for the situation. The problem with coms isn't that they are really that bad, it's that when people morph them to level 5 that is all they are planning on doing. When you make 5k metal non-Com units, do you just make them and hope they will work? NO! You make them when the situation calls for them to be used. So sure, if your level 5 com is right for the situation, by all means, make it. Just don't blindly morph it to level 5 and assume that it will be the correct unit when it gets to level 5.
quote: 4) rush... well rush this, rush that its kinda like trolling specially if its not considered "good rush" and doesnt reflect your real ELO like "rushing n00k" etc you know about who I m talking :) |
. Few of the good players care that anyone would rush a nuke. It's a valid strategy. The reason people love to hate on the rusher is because they often blame the team when the front fails due to being a man short. It's an all-in strategy for a reason. It either works and you win or it fails and you lose. Take the loss like a man and don't be a douche about blaming your team. You had the highest Elo on your team and sat in back and hoped nuke would win? Especially when the enemy team knows you do this in 40% of games so they rush antinuke? Yeah, you were sort of asking for it.
Lastly, I can't count how many BA games I have seen ruined right at start due to mex positions. (For those of you who have not played BA, there is no communism. You completely own your mexes, so it makes for arguments over who gets the triple or quadruple mex spot and who gets left with only 1 mex). Often, two players would start on the same mex spot. There would be a verbal argument, they'd both get pissed ("If you build a mex here I will dgun you!), the game would start and one of them would dgun the other in the first 5 seconds and both would die in the explosion.
Or a variation: the front player from the last game was pissed because he got left to die (point 1 above) so in this game he starts on top of that techer and blows him up in first 5 seconds.
Or a variation: someone's com dies and leaves 2500 metal wreck. Someone else starts reclaiming it. The first person gets pissed because "It was my com! It is my metal!!".
Or a variation: Geo spots are highly prized because there is no communism, so someone dguns/captures/reclaims their ally's Geo.
Or a variation: You're playing on [loet]Lampe's server and he doesn't like the way you play so he just kicks or bans you. (I don't think Lampe is around anymore).
I could go on and on, but at least 1 of the situations I have described occurred in 50% of games or more. Communism fixed a lot of these issues (by not making mexes/geos so important to individual players). Removing ability to forcefire on allies fixed a lot more, as well as removing combombs and commander dguns. Overall, I feel that the majority of ZK players are play more nicely than the majority of BA players, but the top 1% of trolls in ZK are almost infinitely worse than they ever were in BA. This is why recently I have become more active in my use of admin powers to give temporary mutes to the noob-bashers and temporary bans to those who deliberately blow up allies.
Wow, this was quite a rant. Anyways, you're looking at the game through rose-colored lenses. BA was never as nice as you seem to think. I still play a couple BA games each month and I still see the same old stuff.
