Lost 100 Elo

Hello,

So I had 2 Zero Wars battle today and 2 FFA.

I have no idea how they removed a total number of 100 ELO from me even if I won 2 Zero wars matches but considering the FFA I never won anything back again.

Is it still ok to stop FFA ELO and also what's wrong with Zero Wars? Why does it remove/add ELO?

It's not that I don't like it but this thing can be exploited very hard ...

Your Zero Wars game didn't affect your Ladder Elo, the FFAs did. The ladder elo change is also never a direct result from a single battle, but most likely in this case it was rather direct from the FFAs.

Your elo was so disparately high that you had a 50%+ win chance, even though there were 4-5 players in the game. So these games are the equivalent of losing a 1v1 to a slightly worse player. In the rating formula, you can approximate the weight of a game to be linear with the number of players, so each of these FFAs was roughly equivalent to losing 10 balanced 10v10s in a row.

If you want your casual rating to be less impacted by such single events you can either play more 1v1/FFA or play a lot more team games. Otherwise there is always the problem that 1v1/FFA contains a lot more "information" per battle than big teams and the rating will thus cling to those results.

lolz, losing 2 FFA is equivalent of losing 10 team games in a row :D

Well this feels abusable. Resign-rush an ffa every now and then, and you'll never have to lose teamgames any more.

I guess it's nothing new though and it's always been this way with whr. When elo was used, ffa games had a tiny effect on the losers' rating.

where did you see you elo the last time?

anyway:

LIFEHACK! if you want to deflate your elo, just lose some FFAs vs people with relatively low elo compared to yours!

Playing more 1v1 and FFA is a win-win situation since the player gets faster rating changes and the rating system a more accurate rating for team games. Please do "abuse" it.

Match fixing is inherently more efficient when you don't have teammates softening up your actions. It has to be handled by admins independent of the game mode where it happens. Please don't abuse it.

CHrankAdminDeinFreund since in team games you lose/win between 5-10 ELO and if you do FFA from time to time (once per week or twice) it demonstrates that it will be exploitable.

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. 1v1 and FFA is for balancing team games.

It's fascinating how ZK attracts all the strangest ideas for an RTS.

I don't think FFA should affect ratings at all.

Team games lack the information to balance team games. The rating system needs to get that information somewhere.

iirc DF already said that the prediction gets better by looking at ffa`s?

I don't dispute that overall the teamgame prediction gets better when ffa games are included in the rating. Ffa skill translates well into being good at lategame teams.

But that doesn't exclude the possibility of high-rated individuals abusing the system by making ffa a rating dumping-ground.

this happens when you lose Forever. Play tenwars next time for better win. :-)

You can dump your ratings in any game mode, 1v1 being even more effective than FFA. This is a thing for admins to deal with.

How are the admins going to punish a high-rated player for joining ffas and playing in a suboptimal way that doesn't lead to a win? (Ultragodzilla's semi-suicidal aggro ffa style comes to mind)

1v1s are effective, but there you at least need to arrange it with a "victim", and there's rarely any plausible deniability.

So that's why NOrankAdminKingstad is always suicidal in FFA...
