That because not equals paladins power, pretty easy ded beyond lvl15.
Maybe there could has super comm like lvl 15 or 20 to allow you lvl 16 damage booster or high power metors, something like that.
Still could be shoot down by D-gun easily.

By the way, could let comm have water cutter or gravity beam?

I strongly agree to make commanders more important to the game. Less cost per modules is my suggestion and also remove the metal and energy income they give. Or at least make them give this metal and energy for the first minutes of the game. It's so unrealistic to see that commanders give income...

I would also like better comms but not in the early game. It will simply lead to comm rushes in 1v1. Maybe at level 8-10 a bonus set of abilities or hp buffs could be unlocked to make commanders more relevant to big team mid to late game. Like for instance "pick ONE of the following bonuses at level 10: 30% damage boost, 30% hp boost or 30% weapon range boost". That could stack on top of existing comm bonuses to make something unique and fearsome for the lobsters that insist on commorphing ;) And I include myself among them :D

Why is everyone rock hard for DOTA comm being central to the game? I prefer them being a target, it's much more interesting than bullshit op coms breaking the balance

exactly what i think. It´s because 1.) ppl suck at multitasking. 2.) ppl don´t want to improve by learning.
3.) those ppl are more likely to try to shape their surroundings to their wishes than actually changing
themself.

I know how to buff comms. We remove the magic metal and energy from nowhere and put it on the comm. Now your comms are more important.

I would like to point out that in this case tying economy that already existed into commanders is not a buff but a nerf. Increasing units "importance" to fill roles you can't fill otherwise will just punish losing commander even more.

GBrank[GBC]1v0ry_k1ng The way I see it is that the Commander balance is already borked. Way too strong against early harassment, way too weak against anything past that. The higher skill level in a game the less use Commander upgrades have, leading to Recon being the go-to choice most of the time just for its extreme edge in comparison to others in terms of movement capabilities.

Besides that, your point of them being a target is literally moot, as anyone with half a brain will get Personal cloak at lvl 2 and reduce most all attempts at hunting it down useless.

To be precise, cloak prevents things like Raven hunting and whatever other precision strikes people do. Now if you keep your Commander visible on the front lines all game, cloak obviously won't do much and you're probably fine with losing the unit in the first place.

Commanders did get nerfed to death. :\ Not only do they provide (read: compromise) your starting income and storage, but most of their weapons got nerfed, many in ways that make no sense, most comms lost the ability to use dual regular weps, and more modules gained maluses which makes using them hurt almost as much as help. Having unlimited comm levels just means you can waste unlimited resources on a unit that will never be as good as a strider even while costing twice as much.

Commanders are probably way stronger at levels 1-5 now than they have ever been before (for a sustained period of time, anyway).

I still miss the 480 hp/s regen on comms. WIsh we could get it back. Comms sucked even then.

The hp buff is still traded for higher levels, and light particle beam basically just traded place with beam laser, which used to be shorter range and higher dps while particle beam was higher range and lower dps. Recon can't use heatray anymore either, when it was the only com that weapon was even useful on (and kind of dubious even then).

The missile weapon also lost a bunch of range and is now strictly worse than rockets. No com weapon even outranges llt anymore without mass range upgrades, and range upgrades now kill speed.
