There are times when you really want that tick to blow or that roach.
Ticks in particular can easily stun each other if more than one is used at the same time.
Thus, I propose that ticks and roaches can be directly targeted by allied units to blow them.

You can selfd them.

For the rare instances that roaches are stunned i guess it could be good to be able to target them.
Ticks stun eachother frequently and they can't self-D when they are stunned.

is direct "the point i click on" targeting not available through some hotkey? i can think of more than one place this would be usefull, like using cannon units to hit terraform, shoot bertha at mexes i havent scouted... u know the sort of thing im talkin about

You can use the attack command but allied units will block the unit from firing.
What I want is for allied units to be able to fire on bombs to force detonation without self-D.
There have been times when I blew my own stunned tick with a warrior but using aoe effects to circumvent it is a hassle and seems like an artificial restriction.

Is this even doable?

but I dunno if it'll ever get implemented.

Nope, allied fire is set in the weapon firing, not in the unit being shot at.
You can achieve this with anything with even modest AoE anyway, but nobody does it: I wonder why? (Because it's so rarely worth it).

All I want:
allow friendly fire for stunned ticks
delay EMP for 0.2 seconds - enough to self-d mutliple ticks.
Use "ALT+D" to fire bombs - not only "CRTL+D"

B-b-but then you'll have to add "don't fore at emped skuttles next to my comm" too!

Make an engine feature request. This stuff cannot be done.

Aaaand while we're at it (I hope this isn't too off topic): How can I order my merls to FIRE AT THE MEX I POINT AT instead of the silly radar dot that's right next to it? All my units (almost) always target the closest radar dot when I try to give them attack commands on the ground or on ghosted building.

Don't self-d skuttles if no target is around AND you use ALT-D for it.
Prevent that you forget shift to queue the self-d after landing.
that delay EMP thing might be a code change like on outlaw.
NEW: Attack mouse position if you press ALT+A (A + ALT-drawing might be area-attack?)
