Giving Units to Spectators

So, when you join a game on battle lists, usually the game already started, and theres a long wait time of 20 - 40 mins where you just read and move your mouse a little to stahp the screen saver. Wouldn't it be a lot more fun and intresting for the spectators if they could ask the players to give them a unit or two and play as well? (this might break pvp, so maybe chickens / coop only?)

p.s. i dont know if this is a real thing right now, i literally started playing this game 2 months ago

p.s.s. plz no rage if this is a real thing rn

The only thing i know of is !cheats and then !hostsay /godmode, this gives spectators(and everyone else)
rights to move and use all units. Idk if there is a spec only command but when playing with friends
or other people you could use this.

Spectators can also join in-game teams by typing
/team [teamID]

Of course this requires cheats to be enabled. You could add some Inactive AIs allied with you so they can be taken over by spectators.

Why don't give spectators a choice between actually spectating, and dropping in? dropping in won't give you vision of the enemy, ofc, and lets them merge with a player/have someone give units to them? and spectating is as it is

How do you balance this? What if two total lobsters play and then Godde appears and drops in to one of them?

One way might be to use something like the output that !predict gives, and if the balance would be thrown off by too much, disallow and ask if he wants to spec instead, otherwise put the new player on the weaker side.

!predict is useless by the time the game is underway because it only takes the people's skills into account. If the game has been going on for half an hour and the "weaker" (according to !predict) side now has twice the map control then you would want Godde to end up in the "stronger" team instead, if anything. This is not even bound by time much, if in a duel the "stronger" player misclicks and plops LV on ZionV2 his win chance plummets even if it is 5 seconds into the game.

Godde skills: good enough to destroy every balancing implementations.

But anyway, specs will see all map, they will give the team they join an unfair advantage. Maybe we can implement a mode where 2 spec join either one or the other team simultaneously.

The spectator would have to join as some sort of spectator that is unable to see anything. Once joined they could offer to join a team (which is accepted somehow, maybe via commshare?) or turn into a normal spectator. Sounds like a decent feature for some modes.

Could make a third "dead" allyteam maybe via script?

Then we can have a never ending game in which new-comers continue an infinite war! That sounds very dystopian, not fun, and hope does not get implemented...
