Daimyo and Morningstar merged fo become Siren.

Vanquisher the heavy gauss sea goer is a lot like Detriment if you think of it like that.

The Vanquisher model is pretty much two Corsair models smooshed together so I would be reluctant to use it.

Surfboard was in the game relatively recently but was buggy and almost never used.

I've given some thought in the past to using the Lancelet model, and a smaller Kestrel as a bomber drone, but never ended up with a design I liked (also, implementing a bomber drone and ironing out the bugs would require significant work).

Eclipse requires design and a role. Trisula and Morningstar step on the toes of Scalpel, Mace, Lance, Siren and Grizzly. Daimyo does not exist but I suspect it had Siren model. Burrowing is really problematic. Nebula is a flying kitchen sink.

why don't the other ones apply?

a unit idea: jumping spider that jumps on to gunships and either drains health and apply's slow dmg or just blows the aircraft to pieces

The ones people haven't yet gone through:
  • Spicula: is Nebula's drone so would require Nebula.
  • Kestrel: pretty much Raven (single target burst) but does not dive (bad, less interaction with land units).
  • Lancelet: AoE is spherical so a kamikaze submarine would be very wonky vs amph units since it would behave differently depending on depth. Maps vary heavily with sea depth but this is fairly hard to discover. Also steps a lot on Claymore toes.
